Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Because a video game's story has nothing to do with it's gameplay 99.9% of the time?

There are games where plot/gameplay integration is a thing, even in minor ways, but the fact of the matter is they're few and far between. I don't get what you're so hung up on here - if someone watches a dude play through Final Fantasy 7, name one single solitary bit of actual characterization or plot they would have missed by not playing it themselves, assuming the LP is a 100% run.

It's not like FF7 is some masterpiece of gaming, either. It's pretty sluggish and dated by this point.

you're probably more likely to get everything you need to know from an lp, anyway. if you can barely even beat the game, much less 100% it, because you're bad at video games, you're still going to miss important shit so where's the advantage?
