1st and 2nd best captured that sense of youthful wonder i think. 2nd was also my favorite book too so i'm a little biased

3rd was okay, but herimone's repeating magical thingy didn't translate well to the big screen imo. wasn't a huge fan of the movies after the first trio.

hey anons with developmental, personality, or other disorders, i'm curious about something

do you have any behaviors and/or thought patterns that you consciously recognize as abnormal? if so, do you exert a certain amount of control over that when you're in the company of other people? how successful are you? does it wear you out?

interpret this as specifically or loosely as you want. any answers are valid

i have schizophrenia, and often i can't consciously recognize what's going on as abnormal, especially not if i'm in the middle of a really rough patch.

but i've worked for a long time (years) with my psychiatry care team in ways to recognise and head off that sort of thought pattern. so sometimes, not always, i can catch it. a good indicator is if the people around me start looking uncomfortable, and then i try to moderate myself or leave. it's very tiring and not always successful.

i hope to keep getting better at being able to consciously pick out abnormal thoughts and recognize auditory hallucinations AS hallucinations, because even if it's tiring, it means i'm taking back at least some control of my life.

i'm aspergers/bipolar

i talk really, really fast. i know it's abnormal because people constantly point this out to me, but slowing down is difficult and definitely annoying. i hate having to repeat myself too so it's twice as annoying. i don't do a very good job controlling it tbh because most of the time i don't care enough to even bother. i'm really, really loud too and that is especially disheartening because i do try to control that, and always fail and it makes me want to cry a lot, because people just jump to the WELL SHE'S JUST OBNOXIOUS assumption straight away.

i'm also ridiculously paranoid, and always assume people are talking/gossiping about me whenever i enter or leave a room. doesn't help that this has often proven true whenever i've lingered instead of left and heard them doing it.

other than those two things most people just assume i'm weird rather than autistic or bitchy rather than bipolar. it's not an especially fun life but it is the one i've been dealt so i just deal with it and move on as best i can.

i kind of wish there was a history of livejournal/dreamwidth rp. like, where did it all begin, etc.

just kind of a general history and timeline throughout the decades. i'm sure there's something similar to what i want out there, or maybe it really doesn't exist.
