The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. when I played from comics I just picked and chose the parts of canon I liked and made sure I was aware of all the most popular runs/issues. no one who's not a meganerd is going to be aware of half of the stuff

keep it to only what's relevant for your character, what's necessary to understand them and their place in their canon. if people want to deep dive for more provide links or something

As the title says, I'd like to play out a slow burn A/B/O thread. Ideally we can put our heads together and develop a fun little setting, picking and choosing which elements we like and throwing our characters into it! I'm especially fond of themes and story elements relating to political intrigue, will they won't they, and arranged marriages, but these are by no means required. I am up for smut, of course, but just as happy to stay totally focused on the romance and world building.

When it comes to omegaverse stuff I prefer to play f/f, m/m, or nb/*. I am also open to m/f but only for a female alpha/male omega match up. Regardless of gender configuration I am equally willing to play alphas, betas, or omegas.

I can offer some canon characters (mostly from anime/manga and video games) or we can make OCs together. No medium preference for what I play against. Message me if you're interested and we'll start brainstorming!

EDIT: To clarify, I am also fine with playing a cross canon pairing, or an OC/canon character pair!

if it's a megaseries/franchise like star wars, sonic, whatever, I treat it like comics

make sure you know all the most relevant stuff for your character, and some of the big general must knows of the canon, but no one's expecting you to know every inch of canon and realistically not all the extended worldbuilding is going to be relevant to any one individual character in canon anyway

Always a treat when rare canonmates pop up and don't want to actually rp with your character. never happened to me before and now I'm left wondering if they either hate the character or I'm doing something wrong here.

so don't read the prompts and just tag out. if you start to doubt yourself, then you can go back and read only that prompt you're tagging on.

the truth of the matter is you have to do some reading before you commit to any game. premise, faq, rules, locations... it's a reading hobby.

fellow nonnies with fixations/time management problems, what strategies do you have for juggling dwrp with other hobbies?

i have a hard time reading/watching things/gaming if i have tags sitting in my inbox. guilt builds on me if people wait on me for any length of time. this is irrational and unhealthy and it will not kill my cr to wait ten minutes or two hours. anyone dealt with this?

I find it easiest to digest one prompt at a time. Read the overview, read one prompt, write a top level prompt for it if you like it, go do something else. Repeat after you've taken a break.

i have a set time in the evening when i'll for sure do tags (i can skip it if i have to obviously but i try to make it a routine). while i often do tag outside of that timeframe it kind of gives me permission to do anything else i want with my time blocks outside of that. i consider my evening time "free" if i don't have chores that need doing or my rp time, pet time, etc. i can spend that free time on chores or rp or pets if i WANT to, but usually i feel comfortable spending it on books or tv or games etc.

you just kinda have to learn to give yourself permission and sometimes that involves making yourself think no, i did my scheduled rp mines duty, now i can do x thing.

I feel like I'm pressuring my slower rp partners to reply faster because I boomerang so much. I don't mean for it to be overwhelming, I just get the most inspiration for a response right as I'm reading a tag so I tend to drop everything to reply. If I lose that inspiration, there's a decent chance I just wind up dropping the thread.

But I know that some people get really annoyed when they get boomeranged because they want a 'clean' inbox, or they could feel like I'm pressuring them for immediate tags when they take 2-3 days to reply and I respond within the hour.

I don't know what to do about it, really. Artificially delay responses? Tell people that I don't expect fast responses? Nothing, because it's a dumb thing to worry about?

nothing because for all you know they're comfortable with you boomeranging because it gives them time to come up with a good response in their head and it gives them something to be excited about, and it's not your job to be a mind reader about preferences
