rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

how is "i don't want to see XYZ in public spaces where XYZ is allowed" a boundary, let alone a reasonable one? i completely understand not wanting to see smut with a picture of a 14 y/o next to it. i don't feel that way, but i understand it. but you can't set that boundary out in the world and expect everyone to abide by it. you can do it with a single person and go like "do not send me smut with a picture of a 14 y/o next to it" or whatever, but that is not a boundary you get to impose on the world. what you do get to do is avoid the thing you don't want to see. which is to say, just scroll by, brosis

anon i replied to called it a boundary, and i'm trying to figure out what they meant. when i say "i don't want to see XYZ" i'm not implying anyone calling for a ban, because you're right, nobody said that; all i mean is literally not wanting to see it. you can mentally replace it with "i don't like seeing XYZ". i still think that's not a boundary you can set regarding a public space

i am the anon you replied to. i called it a boundary because that's my boundary and that's what i was talking about in my comment, my rationale for it. once more you're reading an argument that isn't there. i'm not stupid enough to think i have the authority to ban this stuff in public. but i do have the authority to make a mental note to myself not to interact with the person using the 14 year old as a pb. boundary does not mean ban.

oh i misread the thread then, that's my bad. i think "i don't want to rp with this person because they use a 14 y/o pb for smut" is an okay boundary to have and if you just make a mental note to not interact with this person then that's whatever, you're fine. it's the bringing it up on anoncomms like it's something inherently wankworthy that i have issue with, but since that op is not you, i don't have any beef with you

pretty sure we collectively as a community recently decided that we don't want RPF in our rp spaces, and that was just a few weeks ago.

so we do have "i don't want to see XYZ in public spaces where XYZ is allowed" boundaries, and they can be accepted and understood

it's fine to say that this particular topic isn't one of them, but to say dreamwidth is free-for-all with no group expectations is incorrect

unlikely that anyone will openly confront you, but you'll probably get namedropped in wankgate and soft blacklists will be issued

we're trying to tell you that it's weird to open someone else's door (expand the thread) and then complain about what is inside (something you don't like to see in or beside a smut thread)
