i had everything up there removed (total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy) but ablation was an option too though i ultimately didn't take it. what was yours for?

frequent heavy periods - I was in peri, but my cycle was every 20-25 days and I would bleed through a super heavy tampon and overnight pad in 4 hours for 4-6 days

meant to mention we knew it was peri because now and then I would have a cycle that took 40-50 days to show up

That's definitely something that should come up with the GYN at least. That often is Bad.

If they don't listen to you, get a second opinion.

Yup, they're gone gone gone! I do have the occasional light spotting from a fibroid that leaks but it's so little and so infrequent I end up just changing my underwear when it happens.

They won't do it unless you have symptoms of being in peri, though, in most cases, as the lining will grow back if it was like 10 years or more (I think) before you would end up going through menopause.

willing to take the risks, i've been on all kinds of medication and bc only made it worse (nonstop periods for months) so I was kind of like the other anon here weighing hysterectomy vs this and now just have to find a doctor that'll listen to me and go from there!

The worst part is really the biopsy you have to have first, for the procedure itself things are pretty numb. For the biopsy they have to dilate your cervix and swab the fundus (the muscle at the top of your uterus) and it is not a fun time. But the sacrifice is definitely worth it!

I wish you luck finding a doc that'll work with you for it! I know there's a google doc that's made the rounds that lists GYNs who'll sterilize people without husband consent like a lot of doctors do so I imagine someone on that list would also be good to work with to get an ablation without it being a huge trial. If you need to me to dig it up I can find it probably.
