Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Do not solicit money, Dreamwidth points, or other currency unless you are offering a good or service in return.
Discussion of or soliciting RP for celebrities or other non-fictionalized versions of real people is not allowed.

It was my grandmother actually! My grandfather had a stroke in his late eighties and was clearly dying but having a strong body with an even more ironclad spirit he lasted for almost seven months after the initial one. The stress it took on Grandma over the months as she watched him slowly start to slip away caused a heart attack.

I had been staying with them as a caretaker/general gofer for when they needed groceries and such. Ironically I was set to go home that night because I was tired and needed a break. Grandma asked me to stay just one more night. Makes me think God was looking out for her cause she would have died if I left. Went to bed at 1 am and got woken up at 3 by her saying she didn't feel good.

Fortunately, I'd read an article that stuck with me about how heart attack symptoms present differently in men than in women and could tell what was going on. Called 911 even though she was insistent she was fine, she just "didn't feel good" and "couldn't catch her breath." Paramedics came and knew it was a heart attack too and finally managed to convince her to go to the ER. Called my two uncles and my dad to let them know what was going on. Grandpa, in a way that verged on dark comedy, slept through the entire thing.

Turns out later on it was a very close call. If she hadn't gone to the hospital when she did, the doctors later said it likely would have proved fatal and we would have found her dead, especially because she didn't have the presence of mind to call 911 herself. One surgery and a LOT of stents put in her heart later and she was doing well. Even tried to climb out of her hospital bed only a few hours after it was done to try to go to the bathroom on her own, which shows the Silent Generation really is something else.

She's still alive at 94, albeit with dementia that's hit about the middle point right now, but when she's having a good day she will still proudly tell everyone I'm the granddaughter that saved her life.
