This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

idg this thinking. simple math shows that at the time of my writing there are 1,282 comments on this rpanons post started 16 days ago, implying a rate of 80.125 rpanons comments/day. by contrast, there are 1,004 comments on the wankgate post put up nine days ago, implying a rate of 111.55 wankgate comments/day. both communities have pretty wild and variable amounts of trolling and spam versus on-topic content (and spam, however eyeroll-worthy, is still a valid use of a community space). why is the assumption that wankgate is the slower or dying community?

rpanons gets a moderate uptick in activity once a month after a new post

your math is missing a number of complex variables, most notably when was the last previous post? RPA still posts monthly. WG's new post only went up because the last one was posted in September. Going off both comms just having a new post is a false equivalence, your equation is better off served with a longer look at timing between posts, comments per post, and number of times someone says something about fucking chickens.

i mean, i get what you mean, but both comms suffer from an uptick in activity with the obligatory startup shitposting of a new post. and by that same metric, people start giving up on wg toward the tail end of the period because of recaptcha, so the community will always see an unnatural decline in comments then. but even doing that: the last wg post running 145 days for sept 16-feb 7 yields you 51.35 comments /day, with the last rpanons post running jan 3-feb 1 for 29 days at 59 comments/day. just to capture seasonality, if you math out the rpanons comments posted over the posts ranging from sept. 2 to jan 31 for 152 days, you get 58 comments/day.

that's still not such a huge difference (and again, bearing in mind the effect of many people dropping wg when recaptcha hits) to say wg is omg dying!!! relative to rpanons. i think that's just wishful thinking.
