is there a better image host out there for icons besides imgur? their system is so frustrating to use, but it's the only one i know of that lets you grab image links in bulk

I personally use imgbb myself which also does that and the urls for them are based off what you name the files for even more convenience.

I wouldn't recommend this, the dubious safety of installing an unknown program (even one that might appear legit) aside, webrips of the movies that OP requested are at best 1080p and saving caps as jpg worsens the image quality/detail while adding artifacts, compared to a lossless format like png. That is why icon tutorials tend to advise saving as png.

OP: if you have the video files on hand, I'd suggest looking into how you can use ffmpeg to save an image per second/per frame/per x number of frames. If the CLI is confusing, leave a sock for where I can reach you at and answer any questions you might have.

da I've used free video to jpg for years and it hasn't exploded any of the 3 pcs I've used it on, it's fine

The bit about jpg vs png is correct though and I use kmplayer these days for higher quality caps

youtube: download the video with https://cobalt.tools/

then use a software like ffmpeg

saw "fmpeg" and got so hard i passed out

+1 to cobalt.tools, it's the best ripper out there for music and videos

Does anyone have advice for resizing HD screencaps into icons without losing sharpness? I've been fighting GIMP for two hours and I'm losing my mind. in before "ditch gimp", I definitely am.

- check your resizing settings, sinc (lancros3) should be the best available in gimp
- use photopea
- when you have resized to dimensions where details are blurring, duplicate the layer your base is on > sharpen the duplicate > adjust the opacity of the sharpened layer as needed
- make better crops that focus on what you want the icon to show (expressions, unique aspects like tattoos or unusual hair) so that unnecessary details won't create noise distracting a viewer from it

I hadn't heard of photopea and this is so cool! Exactly what I needed, and so far the tools feel similar to photoshop so I'm not struggling as much as I was with GIMP. Thank you again for the rec ♥
