Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-05 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)Without going into too much detail: your character wakes up in a white room. There are no walls, if you walk away you just loop back to where you started, in front of you is a table and a locked door. On the table, is a mostly blank contract with an empty space for your character to sign, and a single sentence above. 'May I ask for your name?'. Once the contract has been signed, the door unlocks and you're allowed to leave the place.
Outside is a massive forest, surrounding you with thick strangely colored foliage. There seem to be no settlements nearby, and you soon learn it's just an island floating in the middle of nothingness, the permanently starry sky above you feels fake and time doesn't seem to pass here. It's up to you to build shelters, find resources and survive.
The basic concept is: your character is trapped in a dream, they will be able to shape the setting around them to some degree and they will have to survive. They will have to figure out what brought them there and how to find a way to return home in what's basically a survival setting. The supposedly peaceful island and all the new areas that will be added do hide a lot of dark secrets under the cheerful and colorful surface and, even if your characters don't know it yet, they're not alone.
Player driven changes will not occur spontaneously, and will be completely in their control for the most part, with the plot having different outcomes for various events with character driven flairs and inputs. There are planned NPCs already, and there is an overall plot, but considering everyone is a part of this dream world, my goal is to make character driven choices relevant, even if I'm still working on how to do so. The first event will revolve in part about obtaining what's needed to establish a community and obtain a space to create basic resources + horror and dark options.
The overall mood is dark/horror despite starting on a liminal yet cheerful island. Feedback is more than welcome.

how big is the island in question??
if you jump off the island into the nothingness, what happens?
do the characters realize they are in a dream?

Despite it being a dream, it seems like there are some rules set in place (For reasons that will come up at some point). Everyone will require some sort of sustenance, even characters who previously didn't.
> Injures work the same as they do in the real world. Bodies may be projections of the character's mind, but the 'rules' mentioned above still work. Death, however, is different. When you die, you 'respawn' after a day in the same room you arrived in, but now the door will unlock only after the character accepts to pay a price. We're still discussing about it, the current main idea is 'an important memory' but considering this isn't a focused memloss game we're not sure about it.
> The island's size is still a work in progress since we're still discussing initial locations that can be found, but large enough to have a forest you can get lost into and some old, broken down remains of previous settlements.
> THAT is actually an option in the first event. If you fall below, you do return to the starting room. No prices to pay, you just pop back there. Point is, there's stuff down there even if Character cannot see it from above.
