This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

it's really not. people have said it a thousand times: apping an LA into an animation-heavy game works just fine, but if you app animation into an LA-heavy game, good fucking luck. people who play from books and podcasts also confirmed it: LA PBs do much better, proving it's not even the canon itself, people just like looking at the pretty faces.

both sides have medium snobs, that's out of the question, but LAs do it waaaaaay more. this is because people who enjoy games/animation/comics/manga/etc usually watch LA movies/shows as well. meanwhile it's very common for LAs to be only into LA, it just happens to be the most common/basic hobby in the world.

in another context, sure, but when it comes to "should i open a game like this", this is sadly the answer. a person in this thread mentioned that la-only games exist, and that's because many las want to escape from animation. meanwhile animation players most likely enjoy la too and will be put off by a game with a rule that judges their muselist

if you have preferences without sounding like a judgmental ass, nobody will give a damn

this goes for everything btw, it's not about medium divide. writing "i don't play smut" on your preference post is fine. if you write "people who play smut are gross" you'll get wanked on, and for a good reason

nobody is saying preferences aren't allowed, everybody's talking about at least trying not to be a dick expressing them

there are ways to state your preference that don't have to put down anyone on the opposite end. this is the bare minimum of Being Civil 101, and being unable to clear even that low of a bar doesn't bode well for somebody wanting to mod a whole game about it

i always assumed people who had strong preferences about this just didn't enjoy visualizing it in a who framed roger rabbit way, which i found pretty understandable/harmless, but this and ayrt is so weird lol

like how do you watch tv/movies...how are you somehow not thinking about actors when animated characters are also voiced by actors who are real people

nfn but there's a reason "[so-and-so actor] is a great chameleon" is a compliment; it definitely doesn't make a piece of media better when, for example, it features chris pratt looking like he always does playing the same role he always does shouting like he always does

i'm not even (really) shitting on chris pratt for getting his coins in cringey ways; this applies to any actor who always looks the same and always seems to be playing the same part in the same way. after a few of those it'd probably be a better film/show if they just had someone else in the role
