Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.
Do not solicit money, Dreamwidth points, or other currency unless you are offering a good or service in return.

if you drop threads because you feel, for whatever reason, like you can't measure up to the writing, maybe change your perspective and view it as a learning opportunity? or even better, consider that whatever style of writing your thread partner has if they're tagging with you then they WANT to tag with you and enjoy your writing as well? variety is a gift.

just please stop using an insincere veil of flattery to drop threads you aren't feeling.

i've received the 'your writing is so good, i'm so intimidated and self-aware, i just can't measure up!' message so often that i now default to never encouraging those players through reassurances. i instead let them know i will make a note not to tag any of their characters, moving forward, to avoid any chance of burdening their mental health. the wave of 'oh i didn't mean it like that!' in response is priceless.

... this is so valid. i think that sometimes people lack the confidence to write with the authenticity they feel they should have. sometimes u need more life experience (not for writing, for ur own self-belief), and that can take time.

it's a bit awkward to be on the receiving end of someone else's insecurity when there's nothing you can do to help them through it.

i've had a couple writing partners that write so amazingly that every tag absolutely blows me away. at no point have i thought "i'm terrible and can't measure up so i better drop this whole thread" because they tag me consistently so i assume they enjoy my writing, also their writing quality inspires me to up my game which i appreciate. there's no downsides here.

literally i have never understood this and i've seen this complaint several times on rpanons.
