Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.
Do not solicit money, Dreamwidth points, or other currency unless you are offering a good or service in return.

I know we all suffer from insecurities but it seems like so many of the players I'm tagging with lately need constant reassurance that anyone likes playing with them and are so worried that they aren't being tagged by enough people or fast enough so it must mean no one likes them.

I wish I could tell them how much of a self-fulfilling prophecy this is. I'm exhausted from managing other people's insecurities when I'm just trying to enjoy my hobby. It makes me want to play with them less. If I can't so much as step away for a few days without someone thinking I must hate them now, then I'm going to burn out of this hobby really fucking badly.

If this sounds like you then, please, either learn to be content with the play you already get or leave. Stop sucking the joy out of the air around you or players like me will choose to stop engaging with you to protect our own mental health.

i completely agree with you anon, but also? stop offering more reassurance, support, buttpats, whatever than you feel up to giving. divest yourself from caring about their insecurities. you do not need to manage them.

the fact is that it doesn't matter if you were online 23/7 tenderly depositing them - custome handcrafted compliment on their writing every hour on the hour, it wouldn't be enough to soothe their anxiety. free yourself

+1, recently gave a player like that the benefit of the doubt and they not only needed what felt like 3 reassurance messages per 1 tag, they also flew off the handle whenever a thread went in a direction they didn't like. shit cherry on top they were obsessively tracking my threads with other people and pass-agg commenting shit like "they seem really fun! do you like their character a lot?" never playing with someone like that again.
