Props to the small few who add introspection, or better yet, interaction to make it feel more like these characters are playing a word association game with eachother.

longer answer: sometimes it's a fun, ic game to play off one words to see what the association is. which is the literal point of the game. you don't have to add introspection if you don't want to. and when either side feels like it, they can end that part of the 'game' and play with actual rp. it's one of the most low-mental energy memes out there, which is why it's so popular. why are you so salty about a popular meme?

A plurality of players don't want to put in the writing effort to flesh out a character and would rather RP on vibes. Word association is just about the easiest meme for lazy writers to get engagement.

ftr I'm not condemning it. If you're having fun sticking a character icon next to one random totally unrelated word and vibing out, then I guess that's RPing for you.

I always look forward to this meme because while I'm in a game, and always writing meaty tags, it's nice to have something that's just very simple and quick from time to time. And bonus points, it's easier to tag back during my work shift(s) when I want to RP. Unlike with my game tags, I have to wait until I'm either off work or on my days off to get to them. The same goes with the text memes.

I've seen it mentioned on this comm. Some have said they don't want to tag anyone with less than [add number] comment counts. It's been awhile though and I can't link to an evidence.

nah, thanks. if you don't know how to turn a word association thread into a cr-building one without meta crutches, that sounds like a you problem. the key is to take the thread in a direction where associations keep getting more and more personal for characters, until one of them cracks.
