ur so right it's totally silly and odd to have personal ethical standards

DMing would leave a great lasting impression and open the door to future threads when you're ready. I was recently ghosted amid a really successful meme thread and it made me unsure if that person is telling me they don't want to engage with me at all, so I won't be reengaging with them for the foreseeable future (which is sad; they were a wonderful writer).

Text communication is all we have to clear things up, so use it!

I'm looking to do an agegap PSL where an older woman A and a younger woman B are, by circumstances, isolated from the wider world and begin an obsessive, possessive, romance. The specifics... well, let's talk specifics!

I've got a bunch of ideas for this spanning a bunch of genres. Here are some ideas I had but seriously, let's talk, mix and match.

1) A is a space freighter pilot about to embark on a months-long trip across the galaxy; B is either someone she hired, a stowaway she didn't know existed, or maybe even some kind of humanoid alien who shows up on the ship?

2) A and B get shipwrecked together on a deserted island, and have to work to survive while also falling in love

3) A is a wizard in a fantasy setting whose magical sanctum is only connected to the real world a couple of times a year, B is either her young apprentice or a normal person who had the misfortune of stumbling through the cracks in space

4) Kinda period piece-y, A is a wealthy widow with an island manor, B is the young housekeeper/maid she hires to run the place, and weather means you can't get to it by boat for a good chunk of the year.

For A, I think anywhere between 30s-50s works, and for B, 13-17 is kind of my sweet spot.

A falls in love with B to an obsessive degree due to B's beauty and innocence and seduces her. B admires A, or is grateful for being saved, and is maybe a little unsure about the romance and sex but goes along with it. I'd like dubcon at worst, no noncon.

I can play either side, a little more preference for B than A. Canon characters and OCs both fine, no live-action PBs for underage.

I regularly have thread partners for weeks, months at a time. But if my thread partner replies to me, I just pick the thread right back up! Doesn't matter if it's a meme, a PSL, or what.

And those image galleries would be what again...?

It's difficult for me to tell things apart. Going by the frequent "this was made by ai!" callouts on the comm I'm going to guess it's hard for many anons to tell apart.

it can be difficult if the image is small, but the biggest giveaway (aside from hands) is that ai does not really understand facial symmetry, so the eyes will almost always be off in some way. pay attention to whether the pupil is the same shape on both eyes, or whether the eyelashes actually make sense and are drawn in the same style

(both of these are fairly easy to fix, so there are some people who draw over ai outputs in order to make ai art that is difficult to recognize as ai art, but lbr anyone who has the skill and dedication to effort to do that is not going to be the type of person who uses ai art for their icons)

adding to above anon: AI tends to have an extremely homogenous look because it's effectively intended to do that, so if something looks like "standard" concept art, it's on notice, and from there you can look at things like light sources (never consistent), anatomy, hair that turns into accessories, tattoos that don't seem to have any thought put into them, buttons that don't match, etc.

the funny thing is this is why public ai art models keeps getting worse over time, because they feed them those galleries and they teach themselves how to be bad while real artists are poisoning and glazing their work.

i agree with you that AI art is a red line, but ngl, i'm surprised to see so many people react so vehemently against it, when, from what i've seen, the community is generally okay with illegally streaming and reading scanned comics/manga, including the one produced by small creators.

if someone uses AI generators, they're participating in a really shitty practice for literally no reason, because there are other non-shitty sources for anything you could hope to do with an AI art generator

honest question, and not trying to be argumentative: can i ask why?

in my head, as an artist: if you read my scanned stuff, you're stealing from me, because you're stealing the right to enjoy my art. true, you're not stealing the full right to own it, but since part of the value of art is the experience of its enjoyment, illegally streamed and scanned stuff is theft to me, and you are now less motivated to save up and purchase my product.

by the same token, if you use AI, you're stealing from me, because you're getting a regurgitated version of my art style that AI has in turn stolen through shitty mass collection.

it isn't like for like, of course, but i guess i'm not sure i see why it's always been okay in dwrp circles to do one, but it's (correctly!) uncool to do the other. but i'd really be keen to have your perspective, and i don't mean that in a snarky way.

it's true that a lot of what we do in this community is disrespectful of the wishes of artists, so the reason people are coming out so strongly against ai art is probably at least in part due to it being such a hot button issue right now

but personally my view of it has been colored by how ai art can be used maliciously to hurt an artist, to give one perspective. in the japanese community, there have been quite a few cases of someone training a lora on someone's art style specifically to produce nsfw art in that person's style that they wouldn't approve of (in one specific instance, it was used for loli nsfw art of uma musume, which uma musume's guidelines infamously do not allow). this led to people thinking that the artist themselves produced that content, which caused them a lot of distress

malicious behavior like that is incredibly common with ai art, and a lot of people who use this tech brag about how they're hurting artists with it. in comparison, while piracy can be harmful as well, it is usually not done with the specific intent to harm the creator and does not have as many ramifications. like, the people who ignore the artist messages on their doujins to please just dispose of the doujin if they're done with it instead of sharing it with others/reselling/etc are also being disrespectful, but at least the people who upload doujins are typically fans who want more people to enjoy the work and not enormous assholes out to cause trouble for the artist

Hi! Looking for a book!verse Nikolai who'd like to expand on some stuff in the books and even do some aus, especially set pre-KoS, during KoS and RoW.

I'm into long-term psls with organic development, going from a "what if?" and seeing how it spans out, and with continuity spanning over threads. I'm a medium paced tagger; I can do bracket spam or prose, and love smut but prefer it to be a part of character/relationship development. I'm interested in exploring darker themes if my thread partner is; I like having a little bit of direction/a goal to work with, but ultimately prefer flying by the seat of our pants.
