Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

A player in my game has DMed me and at least one other person begging us to change our votes in a game-wide poll. I declined but they seemed upset and it was uncomfortable. They weren't mean to me, but they don't think the way the poll is currently leaning is workable for their character and they were stressed.

Would you report this to the mods? I don't want to look like a busybody but I'm worried people will change their vote to something they want less because this player seemed really sad about it.

absolutely report it to the mods. i had someone whine and make a big stink about how if a thing went a certain way it would make their character "unplayable" and so people gave in to them, and the end result was that a plotline that i and another player had put in time and effort building up got sunk all because this person was a whiny child.

the point of a game wide poll is to allow players to give their votes and views, not so one player can force everyone to do what they want. report them to the mods and don't change your vote (not that it sounds like you would, but you shouldn't feel bad about sticking to what you want to do).

I'm in a game with a game wide vote at the moment and I'm begging you to report this to the mods, I would be really mad if I found out the majority of the game wanted one thing and one person swung it to a different outcome.

If they think it would make their character unplayable it's up to them to reach out to the mods about that and see what can be worked with.

its reasonable to be annoyed or worried about a game-wide event not going a way thats conducive to your character, but its a problem they should have taken to the mods, not trying to guilt other players

I remember seeing these every so often, thought it would be fun to revive it. Similar to pairings you want to play but useful if you want crosscanon or have multiple characters to offer.

Post here with a specific character that you're looking to thread with! Add what you're looking to thread or who you'd want to play if applicable. If you play one of the characters being sought, drop a comment.

Example: Alice from Alice Chronicles. I play Bob from Alice Chronicles and Carol from Carol RPG, looking to thread angst or action with Alice for either of them.

Another character and mine's are dating which is fine, but we seem to have two very different ideas about how dating works. They want to play a really unhealthy codependent relationship while my character still goes out and makes friends and has a life outside of the relationship. Also getting kind of frustrated because they're repeatedly trying to peg my character as an uke in a stereotypical seme/uke relationship (theirs is the strong protector that saves mine's all the time and needs my character's healing kisses to absolve their character every time they kick up their angst acting like a "monster" protecting mine. ...My guy doesn't actually need protecting...). Biggest complication is the other player is disappointed whenever my character doesn't act like the uke of their character's dreams (ex other character has an angst meltdown at an third character's birthday party and mine tells him to get his shit together cause what is even going on???). From how the player talks to me my character is always supposed to be ready with an hug, kisses and jumping into their character's lap to get hot and heavy to "comfort" them in the pursuit of "character development".

...But the player also keeps saying (unprompted, literally nobody is asking) they're aro ace "but our ship is just so cute" so it feels like if I call them on all the porn stereotyping they'll just hide behind that.

Kind of a rant. Trying to figure out if there's even a way possible to talk about this with the other player without having it blow up in my face.

probably not, but your options are to keep this up and be unhappy with what you're playing, or lay out your cards and either have them get over this or the ship ends and you find something else to play. some people are just really not that great at staying in the lane they chose. i've had ship partners that want things and they say they want A, then it starts curving into B and when i say i'm not really feeling B or that i'm burnt out of B, they swing back into A for a moment, then lean back to B. or they just stop playing with me for x amount of time until they're bored enough to come ask me for rp.

if you can't tell, i'm kind of burned out of being rp fun dispenser lady along with having the thing i wanted and agreed to play turn into something i have no interest in. it's made me draw back on all my psls with this person along with taking a bit of a break from rp to just refocus myself. i miss when i used to get excited for a tag in my inbox. (sorry, i sidetracked your vent. my advice still stands. either be happy with suffering, or lay it out and hopefully move on one way or another)

has anyone else had trouble with pasting images into plurk lately? i know you can go through the upload media button but i liked being able to input stuff directly from the clipboard instead of having to save it to my computer first :/

idk what broke it. i've tried turning off all firefox extensions to see if one of them was bugging it out, but no dice. is there a way to fix it?

confirm or deny, but whenever someone says "sorry, i've been slow for x reason" that thread is gonna die in about two or three tags (or thereabouts)

no shade at all, because i've noticed myself doing this quite often. but i do think that, in general, people find time to continue threads that they're very invested in regardless of irl circumstances. to a point, anyway. obviously certain serious things do legit get in the way

i don't really agree. often i have people do the sorry about x and they were sick or moving or something irl and they go back to their normal tagging speed right after. the only times they don't is when they were never tagging reliably to start with.

Being dyslexic and having a chronically tired brain after work, I usually don’t care much about other people’s grammar. Sometimes my brain autocorrects their typos and grammar as I read it, just as it does with my own!

But there’s this one person I’m threading with who I’d really like to offer critique, or else I don’t think I’d be able to continue writing with them.

I know I don’t get offended when someone brings up issue with my grammar or a typo, but I’ve never given critique to someone else, and I don’t know this person all that well. Any good tips on bringing up their grammar issues in a constructive way?

I think the key thing is to approach it with kindness, maybe frame it in a way that makes it clear you enjoy writing with them and that is why you want to help.

it's hard to maintain for me personally. I tried, but I always felt self-conscious in my personal plurk that I eventually decided to delete it entirely and have only an rp plurk. I do like seeing some personal content from people who keep them together, but there are those who plurk spam so much that I just remove them entirely even if we share a game because that's too much in comparison.

Basically, whatever works for you.

- Noncon, or more dubcon leaning, or noncon to dubcon. I've never written it for RP.

- Pregnancy, either as an impregnation and the pregnancy afterward or maybe even a character already being pregnant at the start of the thread. Then the other character decides to pretend they're the other parent and/or marry the other character.

- Non-modern settings. I like having an excuse to research historical stuff.

- Dad/son.

- Playing with a much older guy for age gap shipping in general.

Probably more but this is all I'm not too embarrassed to share for now.

you may have to provide examples unfortunately because some layouts automatically "turn off" layout features while others require some more work.

generally though you make a single entry, make sure it's post-dated to the future so it's the first entry, then set the displayed journal entries to 1 entry only. ideally your chosen layout will do the rest of the work for you.
