I played OCs when I started dwrp very recently. Then I swapped to canon characters but I like weird characters from obscure canons so I almost never have castmates or people who are canon familiar. When I tag out and try to respond to tags within a day or two I get a lot of tags and interest because people care about my character via the cr. It takes more work and requires you to be more critical about what's not working about your own shit, but the pay off is great.

haven't played from a popular or even well-known canon in years. having zero issues getting cr in my games because i tag out and approach people for plotting. i've even managed to get a couple of people into my super obscure canon just via our cr because they liked my character so much and wanted to learn more about them.

I tag out a lot but most people don't respond to me. I asked for crit but nobody is telling me anything wrong with my writing.

this is the thing i think a lot of people tend to hide when they make these complaints. i bet they do get tags, but they're not tags from the popular players they really want to get tags from, so the other tags don't "count" in their mind

it's possible they aren't tagging out enough.

i think i play a reasonably popular character tbh and am an ok writer tbh? all the same i often don't get tags back when i tag out on memes. there's a balance, you have to tag out knowing not everybody will reply. but because i fear having more tags than i can cope with at first i would put out only two or three tag outs and it was easy to not get tags back

everyone is doing this, that's probably a lot of why meme tags don't get tagged back. that and we all suck ofc. just tag again

the only tricks to cracking bakerstreet are:
1. tag out
2. don't pay any mind to dropped threads or ppl who don't tag you back

memes are the first rp to get dropped whenever something stressful comes up for a player so it happens all the time

yep. I had someone who dropped a thread who later tagged me and we had several long psls with those characters before we eventually moved onto other characters. sometimes life happens and not taking it personal is the best way to find stuff.
