Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

I had planned to app and even put in a reserve, but I ended up changing my mind once the TDM stopped getting replies. I'll admit a lot of games are having TDMs and interest checks around this time so it was always a matter of where I ended up having a better experience on a TDM anyway since I had something else in mind I hadn't settled on yet.

I loved the premise but I think the TDM would've benefited from being smaller. It was a neat idea letting you choose how/when you arrive, but I think people had the option to be way too spread out so the combination of a lot of exploration and a lot of prompts that involve maintenance tasks make threads harder to maintain.

+1

a lot of new games are falling into this trap lately. a tdm should be simple and easy to access. it shouldn't have a ton of plot or more than a few prompts. leave that for the actual game events.

I think having everyone wake up on one of the two ships and funnelling everyone into the space station to deal with threats and situations that would have actually encouraged people to use the poll mechanic would've been better.

Three months is also a really long time to handwave entire character interactions in a setting like this. I never even considered the second arrival option because it was way too long but seeing how many other people chose it that might just be me. Having one crew wake up maybe a week ahead of the other would've been better. I can figure out what my character would do around others for 7 days or so without trying to explain how they made no friends or at least people they can trust not to get them killed in several months' time is hard to believe even for someone who isn't super social.

I've seen people complain when it's the opposite too, though. It feels like there's no way for TDMs thede days to please anyone unless they manage to get 1000+ comments. Which seems to rely more on popular people replying?

The tdm is a combination of big and plot heavy but the prompts themselves are "turn the power on" or "fight pirates" or handwave 3 months of CR with people to explore a planet.

These are interesting on paper but not really as threads. People quit replying because the threads are boring. The starters were great in a lot of cases but I can't blame anyone for not being able to keep the energy going.
