FWIW anon, I understand the exact problem you are describing here. I presume the anons arguing are just not in the kind of game you are describing, but I am and I see this happening and I sympathise.

a lot of this thread sounds like players who are flabbergasted at the idea that making 10 comments a month is not adequate activity to sustain a game.

op here: i think this has become a little bit of a tangent, if i'm honest. i was asked how consistent player inactivity can make it difficult on a mod on a plotting level too, and i tried my best to explain. that's not the only downside to having players who are repeatedly only making minimum activity, it was just the one i explained because there seemed to be some confusion about it.

I don't get why people are so up in arms about this.

It's like games where the AC is just 2 threads. If you're only doing 2 small threads every month consistently for months ... why even be in a game? What's the point?

I recently dropped a game because I was only doing a tiny bit more than hitting AC consistently and figured it wasn't worth it for such little activity.

it's not how i prefer to play, but there are always going to be people who are content with making the minimum, because they're not there to do big plot things, they're there to puddle around in a sandbox with a few choice bits of cr.

if a mod wants higher comment counts, they need to raise the minimum ac. if a mod wants people to engage with the plot as a requirement of being in the game, they need to make engagement mandatory. good fucking luck with that, though.
