rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. I'm just curious what people's thoughts are! Especially dissenting opinion, if any.

I guess I'm sorta a dissenting opinion, I guess, but honestly not really?

Like I absolutely do 100% think writing chemistry is a thing. Two people can be good writers and have meh chemistry whereas two other people can have crazy chemistry.

BUT. I do think some of what gets attributed to "chemistry" is just some people not being very good writers.

Like, it's one thing to have differing priorities/goals for a thread and something else when the other person just has straight-up zero reading comprehension, either for my tags or the original source material. It's one thing to have reasonable but differing interpretations of a character and another thing to just be wildly OOC.

I do still think chemistry is a thing though. It's just not always the reason some people may not mesh.

Idk, I've seen some people say stuff like, "oh you just don't have chemistry with them, it's not that they're bad" when they are, in fact, objectively bad.

But I acknowledged it's not really a dissenting opinion, only kind of.
