Out of all the PSLs I have going rn the one I'm the most invested in is the one where I'm far more into it than the other player. Me @ me every time i drop everything to reply to them: cool bitch you look desperate.

I can be that way too when I'm in a slump so I try to not take it personally, but I have reason to believe it is in fact a matter of my threads just being less interesting for them so... it bruises the ego, but that's the way it is sometimes.

Yep it comes with such heavy triggers that chances are like 50% (at a small amount estimation) of your CR won't want to react to it. But if you do it, it makes it such a major part of your character's current canon that them ignoring it entirely can come off as being OOC or unable to deepen CR while avoiding the topic. It's just not a good idea in a game. Too many variables.

I'd definitely distance myself from someone who did it in a game, and I wouldn't judge them for it, it's just a huge no from me personally so removing myself from the situation is best. And that sucks for both of us if we have deep CR, but it is what it is.

my character was part of a noncon plot (really part of the setting's dubcon mechanics) and even though i did my best to make sure everyone who could possibly be involved was ok with it there was still unexpected fallout as uninvolved players decided to take sides. it was exhausting to deal with and the other player involved actually dropped over it.

i regret doing it and if i could go back i wouldn't have even considered it, despite it being part of the setting.

A player in my game is playing a character from a 2D medium that has been adapted into a movie. They're using the movie actor as a PB for the character even though the character is from the original canon, not the adaptation.

Is this something that's generally ok in dwrp? I've thought about bringing it to the attention to the mods since I think it's confusing and might be offputting if someone decides to app the movie version. Is it worth doing that?

Unless it is actively effecting you or your ability to play, mind your own business. You aren't a mod or the fun police, this isn't a player being actively difficult, and anyone who actually is "confused" can ask for clarification themselves.

i've managed to play them in two sex games in the past (using forced prostitution mechanics with npcs that were present in the game's setting), though most sex games don't allow characters to get pregnant.

you can't really make it a long-term/lingering trauma thing, and you need to be very mindful that your castmates and cr are either okay with it, or actively interested in the fallout, which isn't always going to happen. so while it's definitely possible without starting any drama, you do need some perfect situations to fall into place for it.

lots of people used movie pbs for book characters in the past: harry potter, hunger games, divergent, game of thrones, etc

the biggest valid case as to why you shouldn't do one in a game is that incident regarding kilgrave and supergirl doing a rape plot with a jessica jones in game and the clusterfuck that fell on the jones player afterward and all the surrounding plot because of really terrible ooc communication and a few lies. that's basically a textbook example of how not to do one. there have been other ducon/noncon rape threads in games that have gone under the radar more and if you're going to play that, it's how it should be. but when it explodes in a game like that, it's a valid excuse as to why people don't want to be around for that kind of fallout.

anon is specifically hankering for a rape plot with a pregnancy. imo there is no way to do that tastefully in a public game.

i don't judge the kink at all, but i would question the judgement of a player doing that in a game, where it inevitably involves third parties who didn't sign up for that.

Imagine if someone raped your canonmate there would be no way of opting out of that and you would be forced to play your character in an incredibly specific way.

Something that occurred to me, as a possible way to overcome the "few friends and no invitations to private games" thing.

Back in the day, we used to have our OOC accounts openly attached to our RP accounts just so people knew who was who, especially in games. Obviously, anon comms changed that entirely and had players often not put anything at all in the accounts they had, in fear of getting wanked on.

With a lot of games becoming private and invite-only as a safety measure, I am one of those players fearing they'll be left behind. That said, I wonder if said invite-only games would later want new blood in them. Since a lot of players still end up doing stuff on memes, I was wondering how viable would it be to socialize with RPers after threads you end up enjoying. I think I've gained two or more friends on my plurk list from memes.

Adding your plurk could be an invitation for others to add you, and it could help if you catch a good partner in a one-off meme thread, to later connect with wider circles. However, I also wonder if it should be something just given in private and after you know the player and their characters well. Particularly since no one still wants to become a target for wankgate or shit.

Would it be a good idea to put your plurk in your RP account for memes? Do you have them in yours even now?

I don't have mine there but I have who I am. If someone asked for my plurk I'd probably give it to them.
