THIS. so much this. we constantly talk about destroying gender roles and yet when a character does something not gender-conforming then that must mean they're trans? it pisses me off how people can't see that's offensive as hell. imagine telling a girl that they're actually a transman because they don't behave girly. god.

if you want a non-gender-conforming trans character, make an OC. then you have a trans character *and* you don't have the gross "not performing your gender role perfectly means you're not really that gender" implications.

i lose years of my life anytime i see someone slap trans hcs on characters like sakura oogami or samus aran or pidge. you are not being the ~progressive person~ you think you are. you are actually being regressive and enforcing harmful gender stereotypes.

i'm a cis bi woman and i've been misgendered a lot. it doesn't make me rage out or anything, but i'm a tall, large breasted, long haired person that gets addressed as 'sir' from behind a lot because i wear baseball hats and jeans. my dress style, preference, and overall demeanor has had more than one 'are you sure you're a girl?' tossed at me. being a tomboy or not being girly girl doesn't negate that i'm female. i'm not trans because i have masculine tendencies.

(not saying that that's not how some transgenders come to that discovery or that it's not legit, but it's awfully demeaning to be told you must be a guy or 'you were born in the wrong body, even with tits like that' because you're not feminine enough. enough for who?)

That anon didn't call herself a cis, which would be the equivalent of referring to transgender people as transgenders. No need to be so hostile, especially when it was most likely an honest mistake and the other anon was being perfectly civil with their correction. It's my hope people might choose to learn from their mistakes when they're pointed out.

when someone makes a mistake with their language that can be seen to be offensive or harmful to other people (dehumanising trans people is harmful) then it's acceptable to politely point out that mistake and ask them to correct that language
