Anon, I've been struggling over this type of feeling for a long while. It's hard, but what I found to be most effective was taking a step back and finding enjoyment elsewhere, whether it was RP-related or not. Just anything to get my mind off of it, to have priorities outside of bouncing off of this one partner.

I would especially recommend non-RP-related things for it so that it lowers the temptation of looking back to see if that person you're waiting on has tagged you yet. Read a good book, play a game you've been meaning to get into, play some music, take walks outside and enjoy nature (if the weather allows for you to do so safely, shit like wildfire smoke might not so understandable if you can't), organize your music collection, just something that isn't going to cause you to look back too often.

Lastly, remember that it takes time to let go and back off of things. Forgive yourself for feeling frustrated and anxious over it, because that's human. It gets easier as you get more used to it, and you'll be able to view those threads as a lot of fun without being over-invested and (as) worried about that shitty emotional spiral.

You're not alone in this feeling, anon. And it's good that you're recognizing that it's not their fault for it, because that's already a good step towards getting over it.
