Someone asked me to delete my tag, so they could edit theirs, as there was a mistake in it. I did so, but they never edited their tag and dropped the thread even though they'd previously seemed to be enjoying it. Confusingly, they indicated to me in a DM that they were fine with the original tag after all, but when I asked them if they wanted me to retype my old tag (since I didn't save it) so we could continue the thread, they never replied and have ghosted me.

Did I do something wrong and if so, can someone explain to me what I did and how to avoid this situation in the future? It sucks to have been bailed on when I tried to do everything that was asked of me and I'm assuming I must've violated some unspoken rule of dwrp etiquette and not realized it.

weirdo or not, i didn't mean to offend them and i don't like the idea that i ruined a fun thread they were having. also, i have other threads going on with multiple characters, and it's odd that you assumed i didn't just because i expressed confusion regarding this thread.

what? anon, all i said was that it sounded like you encountered someone weird and you should probably focus your efforts elsewhere (tag someone else). you're the one who came up with the rest of that out of two sentences i said.

if you're being an anxiety chihuahua off a random anon's remark or two maybe there's reason enough to drop you.

You didn't do anything wrong.

They probably realized after you deleted your tag that they couldn't edit theirs. Once a comment has been replied to, it is uneditable even if all replies to it are deleted.

So when they were like "oops, nevermind!" and you said you would have to rewrite your tag, they were probably embarrassed and decided to ghost.

If you want to, just tag them back with something new, or ask if they still have the notification so you can copy+paste.

Hey, this is not true. A comment is editable if there are no replies to it. The only comments that cannot be edited are anon ones.

I have had a couple times where I deleted a tag for someone to edit or asked them to delete for myself.

it used to be the case that it was unable to be edited even if the response was deleted, but this got fixed a while ago. you may have to reload a few times depending on how janky your browser cookies are, is all.

In the future if the 'delete so I can fix a thing' happens, just go ahead and respond again after they edit or after they tell you "ok go ahead". You won't be able to repost the tag exactly as it was written before, so changing a few small things (like leaving out a comma, or adding a couple words) will be needed.

That's the only thing I can think of that you did 'wrong' here? And it wasn't even really wrong, it was just asking for clarification. I'd say it's not your fault, anon.
