extremely cursed name in these circles, sorry anon. unfortunate because it's just a name and not your fault, but that is indeed a name that's going to draw instant heat.

i'd just use a different handle tbh. that is, unfortunately, one of incredibly few names that would inspire the type of insane paranoia you're describing. just pick something else and you'll be fine; like above anon said, if one person suspected you of being a very specific seth, they likely told other people. you were just unlucky with this one.

i have some bad news for you: seth is one of the names of someone who is now known for backstabbing, bullying, and drama-stirring. seth was the handle that they were caught on, but it was revealed that they had done this multiple times under different handles, they would just discard that old name and then pretend they were someone else. seth also got caught after being outed when they tried to pretend to be someone else and tried to worm their way back into their old friend group who wants nothing to do with them, but got caught.

it's not your fault but thanks to this seth, the name is incredibly cursed and people are paranoid because this had been going on for years. i should add that people did connect 'seth' to their earlier identities, but they would always insist that it wasn't them.

There should be a master post or some documentation on this that is easy to find because I have spent some time on Wankgate trying to understand it and just ended up giving up

+1 whenever this is suggested, anons can't even agree on who the Worst of the Worst are. you get people gleefully throwing together the names of actual rl abusers with their pet grudge who hurt their feefees over a game once.

+1 it's a bad idea, if this existed the most likely thing that would've happened was that someone would've immediately ran to put the news that you're secretly this wanker on blast and added your journal to the list of journals to avoid.

condolences on being mistaken for this guy, i feel like people forget that when someone's handle is a generic name that means there's a ton of people who're also named that name.

all you really need to know is that wanker seth thought that they were some sort of mastermind of dwrp and could manipulate people without getting caught, and such manipulations included harassment campaigns to drive people out of RP. wankgate is probably not the best place for it, because it's now clear they were hanging out there and were always quick to deflect or turn attention to someone they didn't like. seth had a bunch of people as their whiteknights too who believed it when seth swore up and down that they weren't whoever people thought they were, so they would say that people who were just jealous of seth.

Anon, if you only gave your real name to one person, it's pretty obvious that one person is behind this and fucking with you.
