This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. if you aren't in the game and never have been maybe don't comment on what you think happened to it because this is a wildly out of touch take

what happened is that after months of stale events the mods decided to convert the game to an sol sandbox and do away with the metaplot despite player feedback to the contrary, and a lot of players understandably dropped because it wasn't what they signed up for. they seem like they've been more engaged lately from some of the chatter I've seen here and on plurk, but the game has also lost a lot of momentum and word of mouth advertising so new apps aren't booming like they used to. that's it.

i dropped because i joined for the plot, not to play in an sol sandbox. nothing against the players who are happy with it but it's not what i was there for.

I hear this sentiment a lot, and yet no one engages with plot when it's put out there. The events this year were very plotty and they barely got any traction. Even back in 2020 a big plot about dragon's tree got ignored to the point that its last part never happened.

I and most of my cr dropped for the same reason. If there was some secret wank conspiracy it must have been really secret, because no one I know ever saw anything. There hasn't even been a wankgate thread about the game since, uh, last summer when they accidentally "pre-banned" an innocent player who was already in the game because of a deetless message from the fellden mods. idk what the anon above is smoking

I feel like that incident didn't help things either. I don't think it played a major part in aef's decline but it was still a really big blunder.

it would have been less of one if hyperdefensive anons didn't make excuses for it and didn't immediately try to downplay it like it was no big deal. mistakes happen, but acting like it was an innocent accident when the mods willfully made a bad decision was incredibly disingenuous.

calling it hyperbolic vitriol and grudgewank like the anon who started this discussion seems to be doing is also really awkward. Kind of uncomfortable seeing the anon(s) in this thread who keep making untrue statements in an attempt to make former players who dropped look bad. Not sure if they're trying to deflect from the issues with the game here or what.

99% sure it's butthurt anons who are in denial that the game is dying. it almost always happens when a game is on its way out, even when it's obvious to everyone else you still have people blubbering B-B-BUT YOU'RE WRONG, IT'S FINE! see also: MoM, where someone (i refuse to believe it was more than one person) argued that the game comm had recent activity so it shouldn't close. despite it clearly being dead.
