What do you do when you feel that you're being targeted by your mods and they're trying to drive you to drop entirely? Can't go into details, obviously, but I keep feeling like they're breathing down my neck, looking for an excuse to boot me or force me to drop by making me feel as unwanted as possible.

i'd just drop. that sounds like way too much stress for a hobby and there are other games.

I think this is the only solution

if i enjoyed my cr and the game outside the mods i'd stick with it on the assumption they were trying to bully me into dropping so they or their friends could app my character and i don't bend to that crap.

fuck that mod, OP. stay, enjoy your time with your CR, and pretend the mods (and their characters) do not exist. be friendly ooc, make friends, just enjoy yourself.

if you don't drop they'll find an excuse to boot you. then they'll spin it to make you look as bad as possible to others in the hopes of making you a wank target, as if getting banned from a game wouldn't do that anyway. leave on your own terms now.

i want to say this is crazy and paranoid but it's happened before, hasn't it?

here's how easy it is:

wait till the player does something which could conceivably be objectionable somehow. argument in plurk. bad joke on discord.
negativity anywhere. skipping a tag. anything. (this step is optional but helpful.)

ban the player. tell them it's due to multiple complaints about their behavior. you won't reveal specifics because it will out the people who complained. the decision is final.

wait for it to blow up on plurk. if no one else does, ask why they got banned on wankgate. people will contribute, speculate, and drag anything they ever did into the light of day.

if you're a mod team with apparent integrity, make an announcement that the player was banned. remind the player base of some rules as an obvious hint at what they did.

player tarred. black mark will follow them. you can get them banned from bakerstreet and prebanned from games by showing they got banned once.

easy. barely any effort. if you're an anon mod no one will connect you to it.

I could name a few players that I know (because they admitted it) still hang around here and on wg in order to start drama and shit on the games that kicked them out. but I won't because they don't deserve the attention.

are you sure they're targeting you? in my experience some mods can be quite "cold" in how they talk to players and it might seem like they're being mean, but sometimes they have to be professional or be accused of having bias or being confusing.

go ahead and drop if it's making things truly uncomfortable but I wouldn't make assumptions over just feelings.

i also wonder about the legitimacy of "being targeted" but if a player is feeling unwelcome, i don't see a reason why they should prolong their stress when there are plenty of other games

it can be hard to just drop if OP is enjoying other aspects of the game and has strong CR or lots of friends who they'll be leaving behind. there are plenty of other games but that doesn't mean they're all going to be a good fit, outside of mod attitudes.

if it were me I would ask other people if they've had similar experiences with the mods to see if it's just a vibe everyone is getting or if there is some legitimate targeted bullying going on.

eh. imo if you're feeling bullied over standard mod communication (or worse, actually being bullied) then this one isn't a good fit either

true. it's up to OP to weigh up the pros/cons. personally if it was a game I was really into otherwise I would want to weigh up all of the possibilities, but that's up to OP.

anyway yeah there are plenty of other places with better (probably) mod teams so fly free if you need to OP.

I've personally been in that sort of situation before (and I did have my fears confirmed, though for what should be obvious reasons I don't want to go into detail there either) and my solution was to keep my head down and stay in my corner. That said, it does wind up being pretty stressful at points. I don't think there's a clear-cut solution, assuming there's other parts of the game you enjoy. I'd recommend at least considering looking for a different game as a possible replacement for this one.

That's what I'm trying to do, go about playing without engaging (I hope) with the mods, but I can't be sure as they're anonymous. A big problem is that I've been in the game for over two years and I have CR it would really upset me to lose. That, and I can't check into other new games like Polymythos as the comm is locked and Noctium won't work because I have no interest in my characters becoming monsters or screwing monsters. I'm just trying to keep my head above water and whenever the mods say jump, I jump as high as I can.

you do realize there are more games than that, right? hell, a few new ones have just been announced on plurk, so those might be worth looking into.

I think I've seen two or three new games plurked today alone, so definitely take a look out there op
