i have no experience with the games but its a real shame because i thought the first season was pretty great. 2 was fine but i dont understand why everyone i know seemed to love 3 so much, i thought it was hot garbage

i hated season 3 enough that i havent had any interest in 4, so im glad to know im not missing anything

yeah 4 isn't any better imho. this series has some of the worst dialog i've heard. :(

i wouldn't mind playing against the characters tho cause i honestly think dwrpers could write more distinct characterizations.

The dialogue was about on par with most anime and has been since the beginning, so I'm not really sure what you expected there. I thought it was fine.

definitely disagree with that. a lot of it sounded like it was written by an edgy teenager with lines riddled with fuck bombs and ill-placed sarcasm even if it didn't seem fitting for the character.

i'm not opposed to profanity cause i've got a rotten fucking mouth. i just think castlevania executed it very poorly.

i agree, i noticed it and felt it stood out badly. castlevania's always been a little edgy and tryhard but it was pretty extra this season.

Everything written by warren ellis sounds that way.

season 3 was fine, they just bungled alucard's storyline and turned him into a walking pile of angst. dude was angsty before but they really took it to an extreme and i think they alienated a lot of people as a result. i also gave zero shits about the vampire council ladies.

season 4 was... okay, i thought? it was watchable but i honestly hated the last episode because it was so sappy and sweet and everyone got their perfect fairy tale ending. won't spoil anything here but trevor was the worst offender and i was just like "really?" because it would have been so much better if they didn't try to wrap it all up in a neat bow.

i disagree that 4 isn't worth watching though. it's 10 ~20 minute episodes, it's not that much of a time investment and if you've come this far i'd say you might as well see it through to the end.

if they thought 3 was hot garbage they're not going to like 4.

my opinion is that the alucard manpain killed it for me because i could tell the writers were really trying to get me to feel sad for alucard and it didnt make any sense to me. tragedy in fiction is always a writer trying really hard to make you feel sad for a character but i hate when i can feel the writers trying to manipulate me to get there so it killed the entire season for me

so i still think its hot garbage. and im not very interested in season 4 because of how i disliked 3. so for me, it's not worth sinking 3 hours of my life into when i could do things i actually enjoy instead ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think you're within your rights to say "no thanks" but calling someone's opinion hot garbage is pretty rude and not really necessary. People are allowed to have a discussion and disagree about something without being shat on, that's kind of the point of the comm.

if you want a civil conversation, then learn how to read and respond to someone's comment without lying about what they said to make yourself out to be a victim.

anon, you know how sometimes you say you don't like something, and a bunch of people show up out of nowhere to tell you that the thing you don't like is actually perfectly fine, maybe even good. and those parts of it you don't like? aren't as bad as you think and is actually rather decent. you should watch/read/play it because of sunk cost fallacy, even though there's other things you could be spending your time on instead. you've come so far! don't you owe it to the franchise to complete it?

it's not somehow less obnoxious when you're that guy leaning in encouraging people to watch something they've already said they don't like.

Respect to anyone who didn't like it, that's your thing, but I loved it. It was actually my favorite season so. Y'know. Opinions.

third season was shit but it kind of blows my mind how many people are hating on the last one in here? ymmv obviously but everyone i've spoken to and everything i've read outside of this discussion suggests the general consensus was it's pretty good outside the plodding pace.

like, i agree that you shouldn't waste your time if you're already fed up, but telling someone it's total trash is pretty disingenuous tbh.
