f/f solidarity fistbump, anon. shit sucks, especially when people tell you they're all excited to play f/f with their female characters only to ditch you repeatedly to boomerang all their male cr. then they'll act like they don't know why their character is closer to more men than women.

unfortunately male characters will always have the advantage in this hobby and i hate it. i won't alter my preferences to fit what's popular, but playing f/f and female characters more has been a very depressing and eye opening experience for me and op's comment just comes off as hilariously tone deaf.

Yeah, I myself am a lesbian, so it's what I want to play, I've played male characters before but more so as goof off/jokey kind of characters to blow off some steam with, and I can get the best non-romantic/sexual CR ever and become a prominent character for years and become like a cool friend/big sis/mom figure to others and tag out and get into plots/events/help plan stuff/etc but the second it comes to doing anything actually f/f based, people flake big time, and it sucks. The anon who came in barging about "so which shit cartoon canon player are you" proves it too, because all I get no matter what or who I play is "oh this is for neckbeards." It's a bizarre, persistent problem that's been around since LJ days. So we have a problem of lack of players (as another another anon put it), and I think part of it is these persistent attitudes. It's not conducive to anyone actually attempting it, and puts a huge barrier to entry around it, which I get it, if I weren't so stubborn I'd probably have stopped trying years ago, I don't blame anyone not wanting to come into this fold.

Unfortunately my time is a lot more limited nowadays so my chances at this basically don't even exist anymore, but a girl can dream.

Again, to the anon that brought this up originally, the culture here will definitely eventually favor your m/f preferences, if not much sooner rather than later. You could have it way way way worse.

as a lesbian who discovered my sexuality over the last few years and just wants to write some goddamn sapphic romance, this has been my struggle as well. when i played male characters, it was no big deal finding m/f or m/m cr. even now i've had no problem getting general cr with male and female characters (the former frustratingly more than the latter), so it's not a matter of people not wanting to play with me. it's ONLY when it comes down to playing f/f that i ever run into issues. i've had so many people claim they're interested in developing a ship with me, even come to me first asking if i wanted one, only to ditch me for their male cr or their m/m alts. people would rather talk about their female character being in a ship with my lesbian than actually playing it out with me, and i've had to cut off cr because of that.

and when there are active f/f shippers in my games, they're usually teenage girls that are too young to have romantic chemistry with the older lesbians i play. i love age differences but i'm not interested in "experimentation" development with high school girls and my adult lesbian.

i've seen people make excuses that they don't play f/f because they "don't want to attract the neckbeards" but they're just that, excuses - stop making them to justify your preferences. just fucking tell me you're not as into the f/f ship as you act like you are at first, so i don't waste my time and investment in something that will ultimately go nowhere.

I'm the other anon, and I thank you for your kind words and offer, but I'm p swamped right now offline/irl and probably will be for a while (family junk during a pandemic, weee) (and it's a shame because lady knights are a brand for me) so right now everything I'm doing is at minimum capacity/private/etc but I'm glad I could inspire you and maybe some others into trying to branch out. God I wish there would be more people willing to play f/f with adule women, especially sexually confident or assertive ones. I'm tired of teenage animes or cartoon characters, no offense to people who like those, live your dreams, but I want to rp anything other than "useless lesbians stammering through their first crush" but most people who play the hot adult women characters I like only ever want to rp them domming men, never women. Trying to get anything kinky with f/f for adult women is like pulling teeth in this hobby.

+1 even when i played in sex games with my self assured older adult woman it was always slim pickings. exactly like you described, younger anime teens who want waify cute first-times, or loli-baits played by neckbeards, or rarely other adult women but played by men who don't know or understand female anatomy or bungle pacing horribly (read: no foreplay)

not to say i haven't had similar experiences with male characters but the pool is generally so much bigger to pick from it's easier to find a more compatible character and writer.

i also never had any other female characters offer to try and challenge or assert themselves first with my adult woman. even when i expressed this was a golden ticket to getting her turned on in ooc plotting comments no women ever seemed to volunteer or fit the bill. it was such a narrow pool to pick from and men always had a better chance of scratching that itch. so.

plays her bi but-effectively-het forever. sad.
