I've done resource management games, but not on DWRP. In the settings I've been in, you have to have your materials lined up and ready before you can ask the mods for finished items from those materials, and there's no way to just say "hey we've got XYZ" without having gone through the mods to get them. So this whole thing sounds really ass-backwards to me where the players could just say "yo we have boats now."

(also orchard trees are terrible for building boats n shit, but that's beside the point)

when this first happened there was a lot of discussion over whether or not the mods should've outright made the players retcon. there's no clear cut answer imho, both ways of handling it had their merits, but from where i'm standing the mods made the call they did because hadriel has been a lax/flexible game in the past and they trusted the players knew to come to them before attempting this sort of thing. if this happened again down the road i'm sure the mods would say tough luck buddy and force a retcon but being that this was the first time it had happened i think they were willing to concede it was a miscommunication and i don't think they wanted to force a bunch of players to retcon a bunch of threads. on top of that there was the idea that the characters would face ic consequences over destroying two locations and a prominent food source but that can only happen if the players will actually take responsibility. the problem now is that the players involved just want to point the finger at each other because "my character would never."
