rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

tumblr is going to ban adult content from their site starting on the 17th

rip 80% of their userbase since adult art was mostly the reason why anyone stuck with that hell site

i hate this because i predict everyone's going to flock to twitter and as shit a platform as tumblr is twitter is even worse

fuck mte, i still have no idea how that site even works wrt finding content...

guess it'll be time to learn soon, ugh

the site that has been in development for forever, you have to pay to use a beta version that has only minor features, has a pretty meh image uploader, and is taken down completely for even the most minor of security issues.

also wait you have to pay just go in and use it? how much? i'd always thought about checking it out sometime but i only ever figured it was invite-only, not paywalled too?

back in the day when it was in kickstarter if you backed $5 you got an invite. now it's free to sign up on the waitlist and they do invites out in waves.

the site's down because they had someone attempt a security breach on it. They caught it before anything got through but they called in a squad to go over the site and beef up its security. They plan on having it up tomorrow or the day after. They've been pretty transparent about the whole thing and kept everyone updated.

how do you know it was a "minor" security issue? because apparently someone had figured out how to compromise accounts and gloated about it on tumblr and someone alerted them to it so they could fix it. Wouldn't call that minor. And while fixing that they decided they didn't want there to be any other possible security issues so decided to do it all at once.

im just annoyed it was my main source of porn gifs and NOW what am i gonna do for smut prompts!?

how about you get them to come over to dw instead of a garbage site like pillowfort that can't even make itself open to users.

doesn't dw actually have a hard image space limit per journal/comm tho...doesn't sound like a great setup for artists specifically, unfortunately

idk if pillowfort has similar restrictions but dw really isn't going to be the artist alternative for multiple reasons. and i say that as somebody that does wish fandom would come back here, but knows it just ain't. not in this image-heavy microblogging day and age

even if they do up the image hosting limit, without sharing features and just in general in this very microblogging-focused fandom climate, dw is a really bad choice for artists

I hope this means people on my plurk timeline will stop crying about tumblrinas and tumblr genders and tumblr this and tumblr that and do their fucking tags more than the bare minimum required to pass AC.

But mostly I'll be interested to see what bullshit thing everyone turns to complaining about at great length on plurk now that the world's easiest target isn't available. Maybe they'll complain about not being able to complain about tumblr? Making fun of kids on tumblr is like 60% of DWRPer's We Demand To Be Taken Seriously shtick, without them around... IDK, I guess people can make fun of Instagram RPers or something?

Past that I'll miss the nature blogs that are already getting taken down because tumblr keeps flagging flowers as breasts for some reason. And I'll take two of whatever tumblr's smoking that makes sunflowers look like boobs to them.

if dw added good image uploading functionality we could probably suck up all the users and revenue tumblr is about to hemorrhage and have a journalling site revival in the wake of tumblr's death. fuck that'd be awesome

they're looking at either increasing the 500mb quota or letting people buy more space
