rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.

Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

everybody is forgetting DW had roughly the same start and was invite-only for ages. CFUD broke the site for days while transporting entries and the site only beefed up after the majority of rpers crossed over and began paying that sweet icon money. i've already bought some codes to give out and honestly i'm looking forward to a site that combines the journal comment system of LJ/DW and the likes/reblogs of tumblr.

there were a lot of naysayers about DW too! saying they were keeping RP over at LJ. They soon changed their tune.

the combining of LJ/DW and Tumblr is exactly what I'm excited for too. I just could never get any motivation to post in my main DW because of the way it is and how hard it is to find like minded people besides communities.

DW basically is LJ though. mechanically they’re the same website. selling tumblr users on dw would be nigh impossible.

i have seen a surge of people asking about DW on my dash since this mess started. half are only slightly curious while the other half are completely turned off by the old school site design, the cost of features like extra icons or paid username changes, and how "confusing" the comment system looks. no matter how much i stress how viable fandom blogging is here none of them are interested if they don't get that instant feedback from reblogs and likes.

tumblr users are always going to complain about moving if there's any possibility they have to pay for anything. pillowfort isn't free atm. dwrp is free, but it requires them to pay if they want bonus features (which you don't actually need and plenty of people get by without utilizing), and taking a day or two to familiarize yourself with a new (to them) site. it's almost like people forgot when they had to learn how to tumblr.

people who don't want to even try are ones who'd be shit at adapting to how we do things here and are better off going elsewhere, *for us*.

i don't want an influx of tumblr refugees to mean all the dumb shit people hate about tumblr gets an even stronger foothold here and overwrites what fandom and rp culture we do have completely. i just want enough people deciding to come here that we get a nice infusion of new blood to revitalize our rp community some.

most social networks don't even give you extra icons, what a dumb thing to be bothered about. you get fifteen on joining, which is already more than what tumblr gives you

the ones bitching about the icon costs were rpers who just use the innate nature of tumblr's image sharing platform to have endless free icons. when i said DW gives 15 icons to start but you have to pay for extra they were amazed i'd do something so horrible to myself. i said they could link to offsite icons in the body of their comment but uploading the icon elsewhere and linking to it must be too much effort. bullet dodged i guess.

except pillowfort is a broken site and it can't handle even half the amount of people that are leaving tumblr. dw was ready for the migration when it happened.
