bummed about my otp white whale thread getting dropped. i shouldn't let it get to me because i've been ghosted on so many times so it shouldn't be a big deal anymore, but my anxiety latched on real hard to this and i just keep agonizing over all my tags and pms and picking apart every little thing i did that probably put my thread partner off.

i honestly don't blame them for disappearing. i'm positive at this point that finally getting to play this one thing made me too nervous and try too hard, so i probably came off like an awkward pushy dumbass without meaning to. i'm afraid to reach out to them again and potentially make it worse, but if they decided to ever come back i'd be happy to play with them again anytime.

i know i'm being stupid. i need to let it go and get over it because moping over the one that got away is making it hard for me to tag anything else even though i have other threads that are really good and wonderful rp partners.

aw, anon. relax. it probably had less to do with you than you think. just keep pressin on. there's more fun out there to be had! stressin over stuff out of your control is just gonna keep you from finding your joy.

thanks anon, i appreciate it. it's probably been rl stress messing with me and making me get more worked up over it too; last month was rough.

i do feel better after getting it off my chest though. i'm going to follow your advice and get back on top of my tags and put myself out there on memes to get past this.

I feel bad because I've done this recently, even though the ship in question is also my OTP. In my case, it's because my grasp on my half of the pair was shaky at best to begin with, and I have a habit of agonizing over my tags when I feel like I'm struggling with a character voice to the point where I keep intending to respond, but continue to put it off because nothing sounds right.

I know that's a self-destructive behavior, and it's a bad habit, especially when it results in ghosting, but it really is a case of "it's not you, it's me."

Anyway, that's just my perspective from the other side of the same sort of situation. Sorry you're going through that, OP.

aww anon i really understand how that feels, i've been there too.

i'd say if you were the person i was threading with:

"i thought you were great and that's what made me nervous! every reply you gave me really brightened my day and i had a lot of fun playing with you; i'd always welcome another tag from you, whether it's on that thread or starting fresh with something new, even if it's been a while. i really don't have any hard feelings so hit me up anytime if you see me around and would ever like to try again."

if it wasn't me, then maybe the person you were playing with feels the same way about it too. i think if someone keeps on replying it means they must be having fun, especially on a meme or psl, so maybe try to feel more confident with your character instincts if the person you were playing with kept on coming back.
