patents have to expire before generics can be released and those patents can last for absurd amounts of time. it really sucks because, like op, sometimes there's one specific drug that works for you and nothing else does.

They can last as long as 20 years, sometimes longer if they do shitty stuff where they make minor changes to the formulation to justify keeping the patent.

i know, one of my meds is stuck in NO GENERICS hell too. :(

before i realized my dumb sleepy eyes glazed over the last sentence in their posts, i wasn't sure if they meant that even the generic was overpriced as hell.

some of my generic meds would cost a shit ton out of pocket! ridiculous tbh.
