The absolute only medication that helps with my depression costs over a thousand fucking dollars since I lost my job and my new medical insurance won't kick in till next month. And even then it's STILL going to cost $250 per month. I don't even know how long I'll be able to afford all this if I don't find a job soon.

Jesus Christ, I just want to take the head of the pharmaceutical company and throw in a toaster while they take a bath. No one should have to pay this much for live-saving medication. But no, money has and always will be more important than people's lives, so a generic will probably never be made.

patents have to expire before generics can be released and those patents can last for absurd amounts of time. it really sucks because, like op, sometimes there's one specific drug that works for you and nothing else does.

They can last as long as 20 years, sometimes longer if they do shitty stuff where they make minor changes to the formulation to justify keeping the patent.

i know, one of my meds is stuck in NO GENERICS hell too. :(

before i realized my dumb sleepy eyes glazed over the last sentence in their posts, i wasn't sure if they meant that even the generic was overpriced as hell.

some of my generic meds would cost a shit ton out of pocket! ridiculous tbh.

I am super late to this, but check https://www.needymeds.org/ - NeedyMeds links to things like patient assistance programs and such, and there might be something there that will help with the cost. I hope something works out for you.
