and i LIKE sci-fi and horror, i'm just so burned out on them at this point that i don't even want to look at another game with those themes for a long time.

After finishing Spider-Man, I want to play out what it would be like for Scorpion to be trapped in a pitch-black container with Rhino. A horny Rhino, if you get my meaning.

I'm sad to see the game shrink quite as much as it has, but I've been here for a year and I'm not going anywhere.

i love everything about them and would love to have someone to consistently write against, but i'm more than willing to mess around on memes and the like.

The AU versions work for/with the NPC side. In theory, they'll be equal to the 'canon' character cast in size. If they start to outnumber the canon side, we'll cap them. I don't see them being any bigger or more important than the canon characters.

Quite a lot of monster types, actually. We don't want to limit the creativity of the players. There'll be categories that you'll get assigned, like Bestial for example, and within that category you can pick what you want. Things like Werewolf, Nagas, Harpy's, etc. There's no limit, as long as it fits within the category. We're still sort of hashing things and categories out, we wanted to gauge interest before doing too much work. Get feedback and the like.

I think? we decided on more log based, but being as it's a school, there'll be school forums you can use to talk with others. I'll be corrected by the other mod if I'm wrong.

That's a really neat idea, anon, I'll talk with the other mod about it! I'm pretty sure we'll come to the conclusion that if you want to keep your transformation (and subsequent abilities/memories made) upon leaving, you'll be more than welcome to. The multiverse needs more monsters, after all, in this verse or the next!

We're still in the planning stages, so it probably won't open for a bit yet, which should give the holidays time to slide on past and let things settle.

...No, wait, are you just trying to say that players can app AU characters? Which will be placed in the "enemy" faction, so it's PvP. Am I understanding this right?

Players in the game are advertising on plurk for the characters on the tdm, even if they don't know them! You'll be fine!

basic idea is making the game revolve around two factions, the Soul Edge and the Soul Calibur, the Malfested vs the Blessed. while i feel like sciv botched this plot point pretty badly, it did introduce the idea that the Soul Edge and the Soul Calibur don't represent evil or good, but instead chaos and order, change and stagnation, and while i haven't played sc6 yet, from what i understand, this idea is still present. so this will not just be a Heroes vs Villains sort of game, but have conflicts a bit deeper than that, playing into individual character philosophies

characters volunteer for this setting. They feel a pull to the world of the game, and are given the option to go through the gate and fight for whatever wish their respective faction may grant them. people really need to consider what characters are applicable to this game because we ain't doin that "neutral faction" thing. if you can't think of a reason for your character to join either side, then you need to think of a different character to play. so a character has to have motivation to choose a side, a "wish" they'd fight for, no matter how impossible that wish, either Soul Edge or Soul Calibur is promising it as reward.

powers will be present, if somewhat muted, in the game. characters without powers will have access to shards of their respective faction's sword to grant them faction-related powers. also i want an AC that has a reward system in place, but maybe just for whole, AC qualifiable threads rather than just comment count based points.

i want Ostrheinsburg as the game's main setting, with the castle as its primary hub and the one "neutral ground" in the game, but with opportunities to explore other famous locations from the game in a sort of fantasy esque way without relying on too many realworld locations.

in addition, The Blessed and The Malfested will have their own hubs if and whenever the groups need to be split up, both in the mountains on either side of Ostrheinsburg. probably Eurydice Shrine and Denevér Castle. also during super important events, the Tower of Remembrance will appear and serve as a setting.

something i've been curious about for awhile since i don't get around much in dwrp: what are some reasons you tag other versions of the same character if you have a friend who plays that character?

i assume some reasons include just being thirsty for that character regardless of interpretation, or maybe you know a player who happens to play the same character, but do you have any other particular reasons? are you just too nice to say your friend sucks, or is it never anything deep?

it's never anything deep. usually it's just the novelty factor of seeing a familiar character, since most of my rp friends and i play from semi-obscure canons so running into one of their muses is like encountering a unicorn in the wild.

anon, it's not that deep. the absolute vast majority of us just tag a character because we like the character, we don't give a shit if it's our friend or some stranger playing them. this is such a weird thing to get hung up on
