it's hard to pin down a single favorite, but there are a few that consistently stick with me in meaningful ways

jojo's bizarre adventure (tbh, both the 2012 anime AND the original OVA)
little witch academia
sailor moon

those would probably be the five that have meant the most to me over the ages.

Full Metal Alchemist probably. Ghost in the Shell is also really great. And Spirited Away.

Wolf Children is also a very very very good movie that stuck with me, but you should go in with about three boxes of tissues handy.

I've rewatched it last year with friends and 20+ years after we first saw it, it was still so engrossing we were all hoping against hope (and against logic) that it would end differently.

Needless to say it didn't. :(

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. It's goofy, it's fun, it gets dark, it's the first anime series I collected all of the DVDs I could for (Hong Kong Bad subs...), and it's the series that brought me and my now-fiancee together for the first time. :) I don't rewatch it nearly as often as other things, but it will always have a special place in my heart.
