Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

the most likely scenario: I get so few tags because my fandoms aren't big on bakerstreet and don't overlap with most of my friends'. the ones that do overlap are busy with games.

the scenario my brain always jumps straight to: nobody wants to tag with me because I'm annoying and a shitty player, but they won't say that to my face

I miss RPing :(

Same! Waiting ten days to get an app verdict kind of sucks, I usually like to get to know everybody else in an intro post or something before the game starts, but I get why they do it this way.

IMHO, it also pays to be a little bit selective when you're tagging out, even if that seems counterintuitive

like, say you want to start a thread with character X, who you don't have much CR with, and they have a post up but none of the starters really grab you or make sense for your character

if you just force yourself to give a mediocre or sliiiightly OOC tag for the sake of not being cliquish, it's going to be WAY harder to follow through on that thread

either wait for a starter that works, or approach the player on plurk or something directly, and figure out a dynamic interaction that can hook your characters in and give them a *reason* to build more of a relationship than just 'banter about how the jamjar sucks' or whatever

also, when something dramatic/event-y happens to your character, consider giving new CR dibs on first encounters, because that kind of thing can be great for starting CR off strong and in unexpected directions, even if it might be more "likely" for them to be around their regular CR when the event hits or whatever

98% of my characters are obscure as fuck but some of my best PSLs are cool crosscanon dynamics

You have everything to gain by going for it! Don't be afraid to ask for what you want, because there's no other way you're ever going to get it. You're also probably not as obvious as you think.

I agree that if that's what they're doing, it's a really, really weird tactic, but fwiw, it's kinda hard to rely on anyone else for Bakerstreet threads. If they know what they want and want to get it done fast, you know. If you want something done, you gotta do it yourself, I guess.
