2am short thoughts, sorry. characters wake up in an idyllic setting where everyone is happy, with families, whatever their player thinks would be a nice fantasy future.

and if they don't act the part, they get killed. with permadeath and power nerfing. they have to fool the npcs into believing they're one of them flawlessly, while finding ways to sneak around and discuss it with others, especially when it's hard to tell who is like them.

so far i've only gotten one mechanic down, which is to sacrifice some npcs who came in the same way characters did every so often to show characters that it's a real risk.

i perceived it as completely nonromantic, myself.

I play a character who is in canon basically a morally grey Super Administrator. She doesn't come up with the projects and she doesn't complete them herself, but her talents lie in figuring out how to apply resources (including people) in order to get impossible shit done.

I'm struggling to translate this to a DWRP context in a game that's objective-based (I've played her before in a more SoL game and it was fine because she had to come up with things to do that weren't work). So far she's made friends and contacts with people who are talented in ways that are useful in the game and traded some favors, but there's not a lot of need for a middle man in most plots and trying to shove her into things would be rude and awkward. I've asked around on plurk for these kinds of roles and made noises about it on CR memes but so far nothing.

Any advice, anons?

It's a requirement for the characters I play to have either a FOB and/or FATM song as their theme and no one can stop me.

the game has nothing resembling a plot as yet. people are going to jump on any crumbs they can and turn them into mountains.

in the comics there was more of a Quill/Mantis vibe though there was a different characterization for nearly the entire cast.

i'm doing like the same thing but with an entire story because I was disappointed with the way a story installment went and now i'm like "fuck I won't just change the plot to something more fun I'll readjust the characters into OCs and write my own novel"

ngl, I've recently been researching a lot of historical Japanese architecture for entirely frivolous reasons(*cough*sims) and this sounds like so much fun. Bath houses, shrines, all those little tight packed shops, tea houses, festivals. So much simple, fun SOL things to explore. And the yokai and aura beyond adds that delicious supernatural touch that I really love. Supernatural urban but in ancient Japan with something other than the standard fare monsters. I mean, standard fare monsters but - like household items that come to life if they've been around for 100 years. Women who eat through the back of their head. Heads that fly around at night for that matter! Cats with multiple tails. Umbrellas! Just saying it sounds like a lot of fun and something people could really relax and enjoy chilling out at. Also has room for both potentially tense and/or scary events as well as some silly ones to keep things interesting. If you do this, count me in!

worst case scenario is, mods will tell you to nerf the powers or stick to a few key aspects and let go of the others. as far as the powers section goes it's always better to be specific than talk in vague generals

if anyone is bothered by how lengthy the explanation is and calls you a powergamer? in my experience, this kind of people are power gamers themselves, just the self deluded kind who thinks my character totally isn't op, look at all his limitations and shit, but I want to win all the fights and conflicts anyway and I'll accuse the other players of powergaming if they beat me

Unexpected opposites becoming bffs in game

Nah, these days it's more people seem to be a lot less open to tagging characters from canons they aren't familiar with and a lot of LA players aren't interested in anime.

randomly messaged someone for a psl and it was just a constant, perfect clicking of ideas. our thread is the most fun i've had in ages, i really lucked out.

i'm still so sad over guysandolls dying so a game with this setting is a huge YES PLS to me.

Two women live together, be it in a house, apartment, dorm, or whatever else, and casually bang regularly. They're explicitly not in a relationship, neither of them is into dating or romance, but they both have high sex drives and fuck each other whenever either gets an itch to scratch. Looking for things like lounging around the home in the nude like it's nothing, or one of them watching porn on the big screen in the living room and the other coming home, stripping off, and sitting down to rub one out right beside her.
