i'm not even a linguist and even i know that's not how that works! if they said "as a traditional english grammarian" they'd have more of a leg to stand on because "pedantry" is the more acceptable alternative, but if it's used in speech and it has a concrete and stable meaning then it's a word! it doesn't matter if it hasn't been in use for long or if it started out because of a mistake, and a linguist should know better than to say otherwise! even irregardless is a word and i kind of hate hearing it, but it's still a word!

ia, but i think a lot of the advertisement of being "plot heavy" came from players itself. i feel like a lot of people just assumed it would be intense like eachdraidh/cdc, but iirc it has never been advertised like that by the mods? i think players definitely projected what they WANTED the game to be, but looking at the premise on the profile:

"elnysa is a panfandom, adult scifi/fantasy RPG that circles around an Armageddon of the worlds. Characters are introduced to a group of observers known as the Natha Orbiters, who not only intend to preserve life, but to integrate you to their planet of El Nysa, where they hope your diverse experiences will help their Nysan people. This is a build-your-own-adventure game with smut opt-ins, as the Nysan are sex-positive and will be encouraging its people to participate in various ways.

While the game allows for a lot of player freedom and relies on player action and consequences, there is an overarching plot that involves the tension between the ever dividing Nysan Empires, of the Nysan people and the Natha Orbiters whom are regarded as invisible gods, and outside hostile forces from the depths of space that wish to make El Nysa their own."

to me, this sounds like a sandbox with an overarching storyline, which is what we've been getting. i wish the tension between the factions was handled better rather than this weird hot/cold thing they've got going, but i have fun just writing threads in the setting rather than trying to get super involved with the plot

who are you liking so far?

This is less of a game idea than a highly disorganized series of sandbox prompts for people who hang out on memes. I keep thinking about some kind of setup where the multiverse is falling apart. Instability means that characters can send others back in their world's time and making sure certain events do/don't happen. There's a small chance that manipulation can actually fix their dimension and give them a stable point from which to fix the multiverse. But characters can also just work with less scrupulous folk to change the world to how they want it to be before it ends in like a hundred years.

The catch is that you can't go back in time yourself -- you have to send someone else from another world, who's aware of the state of things, permission to enter your timeline.

Characters would be brought into the arrangement by text notification, floo network fires, ye olde alien messenger, whatever. They would have access to a contact list which lets them contact people from other worlds, and could also meet each other in dreams to vet potential timeline changers before they invite anyone into their world. Changing the timeline may cause status effects on the characters of that world if they overdo it. Too many changes can also shatter that dimension completely, and send all the characters from that dimension who were part of the arrangement crashing into another world.

It'd be very loose, with minimal modding, and would pretty much just give the OTAs a common excuse to tag each other and some continuity between PSLs. Characters on memes could just stick a symbol between brackets to show they're open to getting tags based on this setup on that post.

characters are all zapped into a video game fantasy realm to compete against one another in nondeadly battlefield competitions. told they need to participate to get home

powers/abilities are limited into a "move set". character without canonical powers are given magical abilities or existing powers are made to fit the game. no permadeath from the battles, characters just get to respawn with some aches and pains plus a knock to their ranking

character's aren't locked into factions, so teams are constantly being jumbled up and reassigned between battles. One battle you'll have your characters against one another, but the next time they may be on the same side. monthly buffs, nerfs, and reworks to powers, which I'm thinking would be a combination of AC reward and RNG determined. no character will get to stay the strongest or be stuck as weakest for long because "changes to the meta" happen regularly

between battles it's SoL downtime of characters living in a RPG style fantasy city. sex friendly game and maybe a few plotty events, but nothing overarching or heavily involved. Events centering around gaming mishaps (glitches, bugs, exploits) or high profile battles, which would have different themes or challenges. goofy/indulgent/fantastical tone over all with all the meta gaming aspects.

definitely open to more ideas on this one, if anybody would even be interested! mostly just wanted to ramble the ideas I'd had for a while.

mine was recent, by an obvious anon who would've gotten laughed out of the thread if they'd made their comment while logged in. but they're not doing any harm besides being wrong. i've been clutching handfuls of grass for dear life since i read their comment. we're gonna need more grass up out here.

Today I was suddenly reminded of how much I love this ship. Love it. I play Glinda, and I'm hoping there's someone out there who plays Elphaba. Bookverse, musicalverse, I really don't care because I love them both. Whether it's before they go to the Emerald City, or after everything's gone to hell and Elphie's suddenly a Big Bad, or somewhere in between if we totally ignore canon, all of those are good. My favorite thing about these two is how perfectly they fit together and how incredibly awkward they manage to make it despite that.

Slow-burn attempts to act on their feelings would be awesome, but I'm equally here for the smut, so. Hit me up or let me know how to contact you!

i almost exclusively use "ocs" but they're mostly tweaked canon characters i like

I'm considering apping a character with a wide powerset for maximum perversion potential.

this is the heart of the reason - they rejected a pretty awful character for reasons that wouldn't actually earn a rejection elsewhere, while ignoring the elephant in the room, so it ends up coming off as they rejected it because they don't like the character not for legit reasons.

I really don't get why so many people have such a hate-on for personality sections. You're just writing a few paragraphs to explain why your character acts the way they do. That's it. And frankly, if you can't even do that, you don't understand that character well enough to be apping them anywhere.

There's a reason apps require both a personality section AND samples. Yes, sometimes people can write a good app and then go completely off the rails in game, but generally if someone can write a good personality section and samples that showcase the character's voice decently, they'll probably be just fine.

i have my choice narrowed down to my main, but it's likely going to be a popular character and i expect i'll have to scramble for it.

Random fluff or smut, but I'm also down for a PSL with a storyline. Around Turf Wars, au where they hook up earlier in the canon, Equalist AU with lots of sexual tension, whatever. I can play either one. PM or drop a sock here if interested!

play along with the natha, yes, but the natha don't favor one side over the other either, and want characters to 'help', or whatever. war is not helping.

DAE prefer settings in which characters actively choose to participate? i'm just really over the 'i want to go home' motivator/'where am i??? how did i get here?????' premises.

i feel like there's a lot of resistance to the idea though, and i'm not sure why, is it because it limits the characters you could app?

I love the idea of conqueror/captive type story line where the war lord takes Serenity to be his captive bride to strengthen his claim to the kingdom. I enjoy slow build where the characters get to know each other and find themselves drawn to each other even though they don't want to be.

Open to human/humaniod creatures for this.

Also open to other ideas. Mostly looking for long-term PSL where we can dive into world building/plot and character development.
