i just went through the latest EMP game thread and you know what's the genre that is winning right now? fantasy. most of them are fantasy. the masterlist seems to agree. and not by a big difference, mind you. there are a few horror games, and the others that mention horror just say that they have a couple of horror elements, which is usually a way for the mods to cover their asses if something a bit darker happens (like god forbid a monster attacks in a fantasy setting) with the plot otherwise players cry that everything isn't rainbows. politics is mentioned in a couple of them, but again, it's elements, because duh of course there will be some politics if you have kingdoms and the like.

look guys, it sucks when you can't find a game you don't like. it truly does, i understand, been there done that. but we need to stop this imaginary EVERYTHING IS X hunt, because right now, you and other other anons that bitched about space sound like you've only ready three sentences of three big games you chose at random and didn't check out anything else.

oh, and recolle, but that comes with the memory stuff issue

i never said 'everything was-'. i literally started this by saying that just none of them appealed to me. and yes, when you're looking down to see what the game's about in that little paragraph blurb and all of them read in some variant of 'x is a panfandom exploration game with elements of (political/horror/space)' since, as someone else pointed out, mods seem to try to do a cya move and throw everything that might happen in as opposed to what might not, it's just a turn off. and i like fantasy. but 'fantasy political' was done way back with eachdraidh and it feels like every new game is attempting to do it better. i really don't want a heavily focused on politics game. or fantasy horror.

honestly, if we're looking at old games and stuff that we liked way back when, i was really into languishment (in terms of a sex game, because that one was actually fun), asgard, eachdraidh, haven, and maybe luceti. i think i would have liked ryslig better if the body horror changes hadn't been permanent and it was a monthly/cycle thing to deal with. but that's just me. and like i also said, i'm not saying any of the games out there are bad. they're not. they have lots of people in them that are having a blast. i'm just not feeling any of them and i wish i was. that's all, anon. don't take it personally.

yes. all that seems to be popping up are varying elements of the same things placed in different orders of importance. they're not 'all' space games or 'all' horror games, but they're all mixing together to become this blend of things that do not appeal to me. which is why i'm standing on the outside looking in.

and it doesn't make them bad games or lesser games. take fasti, for example. i might have liked to have joined that, but i'm not into power nerfing. so it's a mix of games that don't appeal to me mixing with games that aren't pinging my preferences. i'm not shitting on games, anon. they're not bad games. they're just not games for me. that's it. i would just like a game that pinged me. that's all. i'm not crapping on your game(s).

you mean those blurb that have ALWAYS sucked? they've been the same since fucking livejournal. a description of how you wake up, and three sentences that tell you absolutely nothing about the game. i've bitched about this many times in anoncomms, and there was an anon that bitched about it a few posts back. the only way to know what a game is truly like is reading the info pages. does it suck? yeah, mods should learn to write better blurbs. but let's not pretende this is a new problem, and don't use that to say "all games sound the same", because they aren't.
