Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

hi! i'm looking for a character in early to mid-20s who seems to have it together but is actually a hot mess.

like responsible enough to hold down a job and be the go-to person for relationship/life advice but they personally blow off tons of money on dumb shit and has a long list of failed relationships/friendships due their own hangups.

i think it'd be fun to play someone who's initially faking it til they make it at the beginning and eventually growing into a real responsible person through the game's circumstances and meeting new people.

Well I've been watching and loving Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor and that describes him super well.

At his best Kaiji is a meticulous but realistic planner and a master social engineer who, rather than resign himself to mere luck, does everything he can to win and beats cheaters at their own games. He was also able to hold down a fairly menial job even though he hated every single thing about it.

THAT SAID, that's at his best.

When he actually does just gamble normally shit never goes well for him, he spends most of his manga in tremendous debt that he tries to get out of only to be stuck with worse debt, he can blindly trust other people who offer easy ways out when they're actively using him, in turn he can place trust in people seeing them as loyal friends when they have no problem backstabbing him in an instant and sometimes do repeatedly, and until he's reminded of the human element in many situations it's easy for him to give up or give into his more ruthless and selfish desires.

Sounds like the main character to Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Successful lawyer who's and genious and rich who is so much more successful than everyone else around her. But emotionally she is a hot mess.

even if LA isn't your cup of tea to play from or the title throws you off, i still recommend giving it a watch (seasons 1-3 are all on netflix)

if for nothing else than the musical numbers

echoing the above anon, crazy ex is a very good show despite the name (which the creators know is off-putting but intentionally so.) it treats mental illness with genuine care like no show on network tv ever has or will have the balls to do, and the main character is not always in the right with her actions and (sometimes) knows it.
