I'm really interested, but wary of jumping into a game when it first opens and gets a big rush of players. Should I wait a few app rounds or just jump in now?

just jump in now. you can always drop if it's not your thing.

it's hard to know if it's going to get busier in later app cycles, but so far it seems it'll be a fairly moderate size and not very large. at least to start with. i personally enjoy the beginning of a game when the plot is still new, because then i can participate in things as they first start to happen, but maybe that's not your preference.

apps do close on saturday, though, so if you can't make that window then next month might be better.

I'll probably wait until next app cycle, I missed that the apps were closing this week. New character so I don't have anything written for them...

I think I'll keep an eye on the game and work on my app until they open again. Thanks anon.

lmf those app rejection gifs are pretty brutal

i love it, but i also loved gladiator and commodus was my favorite character, so.

i also agree with all the rejections except for the frank, who i have no idea how they got in. that app was terrible.

eh there were more detailed apps for sure but the frank player hit all the beats of his personality and provided examples for those traits and i can't think of a more fitting patron for him. it wasn't as sparse and wishy washy the same way the noctis app was, for example.

it hit the basic formula with connecting traits with examples and evidence. the strengths and weaknesses matched the other sections and they supported each other. it could have been longer and far less surface level but on a formula level for apps, i wouldn't say it was terrible.

as a former mod who did apps, i didn't, if ever, always agree with an interpretation 100% but if they gave solid canon examples and didn't roam off into 90% headcanon territory, i tried to be fair (thread examples are tough to perfectly match all the time too). there was probably a team reviewing so who knows if 2/3 mods thought it was fine and the other one thought it needed revisions. we don't know the behind the scenes

It's kind of weird that they're not giving a breakdown on why apps are rejected. I know they're not obligated to and they've left it open for the players to contact them to ask, but I'm so used to mods doing it that it makes the rejections look really harsh. More like job rejections where you have to ask for feedback to find out where you went wrong.

one of the rejections literally linked a lost carnival app instead of the actual game app so i think that reasoning was pretty obvious. and honestly if you look at the rest they were clearly lacking in depth. the only one i'm not sure about is the noctis, but if they were the wanky dai then drama probably kept them out.

that aside it's absolutely normal for mods to not give a public breakdown and it's been an increasing trend to do it like this, not sure how you missed it.

the noctis one surprised me too, but when i looked at the app, it did make sense. that personality was super sparse. most apps had at least a paragraph per personality trait, rather than just... a sentence or two. not sure why they didn't ask for revisions on it though instead, but my guess is they judge the personality section most heavily.

no idea about dai drama tho. i don't think that was involved, but i could be wrong.

It was missing the character name and canon fields, that's easy to fix. They didn't submit it anyway and still got declined.

a shitty app beats a did not finish though. or at least it should. no idea what the mods are on

i'm really excited for the first event and so happy to see all these posts going up even without an event. who are you liking so far, now that everyone's in a game together? what do you think of the patron choices and room assignments?

i am honestly loving everyone's enthusiasm. it's pretty contagious.

i'm also loving reading how different characters are coming to terms with being here and wondering why a specific god chose them. good stuff.

The mods are really on point, too. As someone who doesn't have a Plurk/Discord/whatever, I was happy to see they're stressing use of the OOC comm so everyone can stay involved and things don't get cliquey.
