I kinda wish there was a community we could try out TDM's for games we'd like to test how much interest people had for the concept, like a TDM for TDM's themselves. Or even something like, week-long 'flashgames' to do a scenario from the game as a test of the concept to see if it works or people are interested.

How do you know how to interact with a character that comes from a canon you're blind to? How do you keep it interesting? I find it sometimes leads to small talk or something equally mundane.

it depends on so many things this is impossible to answer, honestly. some threads will meander into small talk no matter what. it's okay to drop them if they're not going anywhere, we all do it. joining a game with missions is an easy fix for this, if that's something you might be into, because characters always have something to talk about

newbie anon here. when apping into a game, is it expected to play a character from the latest part of their canon? if i play a character from an earlier point in their canon will that be seen as weird and some unspoken faux pas? :(

i think the general default is a newer part of their canon, but there are also plenty of people that play from earlier, either because of jossing or character development or reveals or relationships people don't like.

it's really up to you. it might be a little odd if you have a cast and you don't talk about it, but even then, i've seen plenty of games with casts from multiple canon points, so don't sweat it too much.

idk why but short tags with little detail feel so boring to me. except the large majority of people i play with rp like that and i end up feeling self conscious and unfun, and chopping down my tag size just to fit in or else i’m pretty sure people wouldn’t play with me :(

People tag like that either in the interest of speed or because they are lazy. It's fine for threads with small talk, but for anything else it's going to be lacking and you'll eventually see other issues due to their rushing their tags.

So I have a question for you guys, given the WPA-2 exploit that was talked about recently.

Mostly are video game systems affected by this as well or if my router has been patched/isn't affected by that exploit will they be fine? I mostly ask because all the info I'm finding is for routers, phones, computers, or OSes but nothing on the consoles front.

Mainly curious in regards to the Switch, 3DS and PS4.

The way game consoles work, there's nothing special you can do. Game consoles limit what you can access and will block online features if you aren't updated, so you pretty much don't have to do anything special here.

a couple months ago i was playing out a few different psls with someone and kinda lost interest. for a solid month we'd talk every day and when i started getting busy with irl stuff i was talking to them a bit less. after a while i just wasn't interested in talking to them much because every conversation turned into discussing the canon/ship we played from and i'd dropped our threads a while ago. i admit i've ignored a few messages from them recently that weren't about our threads and even if they've never bugged me for tags i just... didn't want to talk to them at the time. i needed a break. it's been about a month since we talked.

i went to go check on our old psls because i wanted to reread them and found they'd kicked my journals out of their musebox. our posts were mostly smutty so they're locked and there's no way i can read them now. would it be inappropriate to ask them for access so i can read these threads again?
