There are other characters (eg: Hundred) searching for a different political position. In fact, Ambassador position only became available because some imPorts demanded the government to hear them out. A big part of this game requires you to be proactive like that.

Maybe grab your character and try something further?

baelish is gearing up for a mayoral race, and if he gets it that will be another open position.

also, batman lost, so he and his player are setting up an ic justice league. other characters have started their own ic organizations as well. if you can't get your character an important position, the game setting is flexible enough that you can create one for them.

that works if your character is the type who would be willing to create a position, or if you have ideas for a position to invent, otherwise you're not going to have many options for working with what already exists

unpopular opinion but if your character isn't the type to move and shake, maybe they shouldn't icly be a mover and shaker

assuming it's the same anon, i'm wondering why they even want the position at this point. if your character's not proactive in general, then why do they wasn't a position that requires them to be proactive? it's like watching a vegetarian complain that nobody's giving them a hamburger.

in that case, why not join up with another ic group or hit up on e of the ambassadors for cr that could net your character a position? i've seen other characters do that before and it worked out well for them.

I mean, I'm sorry but these arguments basically boil down to "if you have no ideas, no initiative, and no cr, you won't have anything to do". Which...yeah, true.

And I get that some games are very straight-forward with that in a way that MoM isn't. They have lists of roles and let you sign up. In this game, a vast majority of the roles are player-created. Ambassador elections are the exception to this, but other than that if you see a player who has a significant role, it's probably because they created that role for themselves. A vast majority of the time, you are simply not going to be offered or presented with options, you have to make your own.

This game is very open and flexible, and one of the drawbacks to that flexibility is that if you're short on ideas for your character there are less opportunities to just sign them up for something. But honestly I see a lot of people being their own roadblocks here by adopting the "if it doesn't already exist, it's not allowed/not needed" mindset and trying to play only with what they're given. If you have an idea, don't be afraid to pursue it, the worst that can happen is the mods say no. If you would rather be given existing options to play with than create your own even if that results in a more restrictive setting, this might not be the best game for you.

I think a lot of players still haven't realized this and how the player-game-world-characters dynamic works in MoM. If an imPort wants to come up with the crazy idea to create a country for imPorts only, they actually CAN as long they pursue it right.

My character took part to become more visible. It's a win/win, and that's going to result in a lot more CR and growth. Not getting the position can be as good as actually getting it.
