This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

I gotta say, getting one lone reply on the TDM is kind of a bummer when I posted fairly early and people who posted well after me are getting 4+. I thought my starters were pretty good.

I know you shouldn't always judge how well you'll be received in game by the TDM, but when the game isn't even open yet and everyone's only playing on the TDM it's pretty disappointing :(

Most of those replies are probably from the OPs friends. I only got one new person replying to my top level, all others are people I know. Just tag around and I'm sure you'll get plenty of threads going.

I know this is probably a moot point if you haven't been accepted yet, but I found that getting to know some people in the discord chat helped with getting my guy noticed by people I wasn't already friends with. People tend to tag their friends, and if not their friends they tend to tag characters they're familiar with. Having fun starters, sadly, can mean nothing if people skim right past them.

If it's threads you're after, just tag out. Show people how fun you are now and they'll come back to you once you're in game.

The TDM is kind of old at this point, and lots of people are busy with the threads they already have. Not many people may be tagging out that much at the moment.

Thanks for clearing things up for me about apping here. If I have to keep up and branch out on discord to get rp, fuck it. I work too many hours to have time for that and actually tag. Thanks for the heads up.

wow, could you be any more sour about not having strangers flock to you on a tdm? you were given a polite and reasonable explanation for why you might not have as many hits to your starter and you somehow take "if i want rp i HAVE to talk to people on discord so fuck it" out of it. jesus, people act like tagging out to strangers is asking so much and yet take issue when other people aren't going around tagging out to them in particular.

The discord isn't a requirement for you to get rp. A lot of people join game discord channels just to check in sometimes. It just helps those that want extra exposure in ADDITION to when people already browse the test drive, and it gives easier access to messaging other players.

frankly if people are going to complain about more ways to communicate and have fun they probably shouldn't be playing anyway

That isn't what I said and you know it. People were getting tags way before the discord chat was a thing. I was just providing you options on how to get more cr in.

I know that feeling less popular than other people sucks, but that's just something you have to accept when you play obscure characters and don't have many friends in the game. I have seen many people get through this by tagging out. If you're fun and reliable, people will respond. Keep it up and you might have more CR than the people who got many initial hits. I have seen it happen many, many times.

If you really want CR, tag out. That's all I can tell you. Sitting around and waiting to be tagged accomplishes nothing.

obscure character/lone canon warrior here. my tdm toplevel did not get that many tag-ins, and most of them got threaddropped pretty quickly, but i find tagging out to be a better experience so far.

also discord is definitely not mandatory and maybe only 40ish people of the 100+ accepted actually go into chat regularly.

be honest with yourself: do you actually want tags or do you just want attention? because if you want tags then you can reach out and reply to other people's toplevels instead of just twiddling your thumbs while you wait for somebody to notice yours.

this. the majority of people i see that get really upset over this seem to be the ones that just throw up a top level and refuse to tag around. if you plan on joining this game, you're going to have to actually play in it, just like in any game. if you're not willing to tag out even on a tdm, then it sort of shows what type of player you'll be like, probably demanding that people tag into your posts and refusing to or making excuses why you can't tag into others.

tag out. even if it's just one or two people. if there's an effort made to actually play in the setting, that's something people will see. stop expecting to be catered to just because you want to app into a game. especially one that's not even open yet and this is the group of people you'd be initially playing with.

the discord is more or less the players getting to know each other oocly, joking around, and posting pictures of their characters in neatly categorized channels. it hasn't impacted ic relations other than giving exposure to toplevels and frankly if you don't feel like hopping on it then it'll be like any other game you've probably played in. it's not a big deal.

i haven't joined the discord and would rather not, just my personal pref. it occurred to me that having a discord open already could defeat some of the good intentions behind holding off on the first cr meme until everyone's accepted, but i doubt it'll have that much impact. discord hasn't replaced plurk as the primary method of ooc contact and strangers were willing to tag me on the tdm even after we were all accepted.

if you're so interested in the game that you want to app and play there, app and play there. give it a shot and see what happens.

that's actually why I haven't bothered using the chat. popping into a conversation to be like "i'm derailing this to say hi because i have nothing to contribute to this conversation otherwise since i haven't been following it at all" isn't something i enjoy doing.

Yeah discord is optional. I checked in once and saw a few players talking about cum in the general chat and immediately just closed out. Not necessary, if anything it's where all the try-hards flock.
