yes. i know most of the really loud complainers about the ac system dropped so it makes sense to assume that is why they dropped.

unless we're assuming they threw a fit about ac so they could stealth drop for some other reason, which seems a little bit silly.

There's a player who keeps pinging me on plurk about me threading with their character, but I don't like their rp style. They often put my character in tricky situations, where they contradict what my character is saying or doing (eg. My character is looking for a food in a bakery that they regularly visit. The next tag is their character telling me that the bakery hasn't stocked that cake for years).

I'd be happy to stop threading with them but they keep pinging me for stuff. Do I tell them why I don't like tagging them? How do I do that without being a dick? I like them. I just don't like their tags.

Acknowledge that they have a family member then handwave the rest. Presume that everything between them is pleasant and boring and get on with your real plots.

a timeswap scenario: character a switches with a version of themselves from a future where everything fell apart, including their closest relationship, and tries to fix it because they still think there's hope left. meanwhile, the future version of character a's just hanging around in the past being a bitter fuck and getting hope kicked into them by their friends.

hard to line up the right character, the right bad end, and the right relationships, and just generally complicated as fuck to plot out.

(except in her case it's more like "kid from bad future travels back to past when she was a baby"

also marvel has a bunch of characters with similar backstories)

What kind of games do you think DW could use more of?

it's not the device i like; it's the execution. hence "hard to line up the right character, the right bad end, and the right relationships, and just generally complicated as fuck to plot out." it's easy drama when you've got control of a story, harder to play out in an interesting way with another person.

something like Paradisa was back in its heyday. mostly slice of life, mostly lighthearted, tons of flexibility for player creativity. games these days feel too restrictive and grimdark for me.

Short-run, limited-slot, plot-heavy games that aren't murder or horror.

As all the games I see lately are mostly murder games, I'd like to see something besides those. More power to you if you like those but they're not my cup of tea.

An ongoing functional threesome ship.

a thread in detailed, literary prose. i've had maybe two like that in my entire time in dwrp, and i really miss it... but i'd feel awkward whipping out that flowery shit on my own.

Games in more of the old LJ/IJ model--fewer rules and restrictions, more open-ended settings, much friendlier to OCs (or even OC-only.

eh. it depends? sometimes it's pretty obvious they're just conflating their ship feels with the person. that shit gets messy and bad fast.

but honestly it's not the worst thing in the world to date someone you share a hobby with. i've done it a few times. it hasn't panned out but it wasn't any worse or better than non-rp relationships i've had either. just avoid the first thing i mentioned because seriously no.

oh and most of these are LDR which have their own bundle of issues so that's something people should keep in mind too. but yeah overall it's w/e to me.

Id like to see some politics heavy games (I think that they'd work well in the murder game format).

Also, some setting variety.

if you go with this, make sure any collapsed threads are expanded first.

super easy to avoid now she stepped back from modship and is tagging around a bit less (because she wanted to take things easier or something like that iirc).

Trolls and goblins are underrated because the original bestiary's pictures were "ugly" and people just kind of assumed that's what they had to look like instead of reading the description. I liked the pictures but imo it was a good call to remove them.

I like demons, but my issue with them is that they're almost never given to the characters it would be most interesting to play as demons. I find their loss of morality to be one of the more interesting mental changes, but most of the time it seems like you either have to be outright evil already (for fitting) or pure as freshly fallen snow/very religious (for conflicting). I'd love to play a character who is in the middle of a morality crisis as a demon, but they aren't often given to characters who are kind of in-between or struggling with morality unless they have a canon religion/demon motif to play off of.

I don't see any appeal to playing an already really evil character as a demon, though. Just seems like the boring "badass" choice for them.

i think you should try explaining to them why you have a problem with their tags. be casual about it, don't make it feel like proper crit - say something like "hey, so in past threads you did this thing and it made tagging you back tricky for me. next time we thread, could we avoid a situation like that?"

it's totally possible that they'll ignore it or just won't get it, but it's worth a short.
