Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

An antagonist just utterly, gleefully manipulating and breaking the hell out of one of my characters. With sex, of course, but I'd also like the antagonist to just mess with their head too. Kind of a love-hate relationship where one side can only express their feelings by being a possessive, mind-breaking troll, if that makes any sense? I'd prefer to play the lady hero/unfortunate target of affection here and will gladly roll up an OC for it. PM me at ~sockpunhere if you're interested!

The game deserves 10/10 even with it flaws.

Or more that it's flaws are balanced out.

Take weapon durablilty. Yeah it fucking sucks especially when its a decent weapon, but you have so many that it becomes an annoyance and they are a button away. And the HUD gives you a warning when you are like four hits away from it breaking so it doesn't come to a huge surprise. There's also the ability to take weapons in the middle of the fight (Throw something or hit an enemy with a shock arrow) so you can start beating them like that. And its not that hard to increase your inventory so you don't run into never having enough space (990 korok locations means you do stumble on them if you are even half paying attention). Though this does go into an actual issue where you can open chests, not have room, and have to drop something if you want it and then reopen the chest.

In the inventory itself everything is separated. You have one for Weapons, Bow, and Shields which means you aren't really doing any heavy juggling that plagues games like this. And you have no weight limit bullshit. Once again runs into the space issue but that can be resolved easily enough. The main issue is the armor, material, and food tabs being too bulky if you have too much junk in your trunk.

Stamina is a mixed bag as some of the best parts for me so far, beyond you know getting into the dungeons, were being able to climb mountains and having to plan it out. Much more satisfying. Much more fun when its not raining.

Honestly the game has flaws but its not to the extent Jim or zelda/nitendo haters pretended they were but its not a flawless game either. I really wish they did something better with the Shrines and getting heart containers/Stamina vessels but all in all it does deserve the praise it gets and was an outstanding foryay into Open-world that games like Elder scroll need to take notes from.

just the first ending? if you don't do many side quests or wait around for all the dialogue, most people can get from the start of the game to ending A in like 7-10 hours. bear in mind, though, there's a ton of endings and extra material. getting the first ending in a nier/drakengard game is basically seeing half of it.

I want to get back into RP and games after a 6+ month break but I don't really have anyone I know anymore than I can ask to help me voicetest new muses. What's the best way to find someone for some quick threads? I barely care who I play my character against as long as the nun is willing to tag with me a bit to help figure out the character. Memes appear to be dead still?

I mean, a bunch get posted that don't get much responses (because whoever posts them just won't give up on the idea that they're not popular) but I've rarely had an issue getting threads...as long as I'm willing to tag out. If you only top level, yeah, you might find it difficult (unless you have a really popular fad-of-the-moment character).

You might want to dip your toe in first with one of the sillier memes (tfln and the like). Sure they're just dumb fun but if you tag someone you are almost guaranteed a response, they don't require a lot of effort, and if you have fun with that person they're usually open to RP'ing "for real" in another thread now that you've broken the ice.

It's not the most popular canon, but I'd give enough info on the mod journal, if it ever gets off the ground! Glad to see some interest!

Canon actually has a surviving partner get a replacement partner, so that wouldn't be out of the norm in game. Iirc, nobody ever switches partners because they don't work out, but given the bond is so important, I would allow it in game. Players would have to make a case for it though (this to prevent people just wanting to play with their close friends if they didn't get paired from the get-go) at least if it's ICly. OOCly I'd need good reasons too, but I wouldn't want players to feel uncomfortable.

Inactivity would be addressed with the player. It woudln't be as much of an issue for non-pilot characters, but I think most people would be into the pairing aspect (and I might limit it to just that anyway). So it would be pretty important to maintain a decent level of activity. Not necessarily fast, but at least actively communicating with other players.

That said, I'm open to suggestions! This is a long ways away but I'd like to at least try.

A labyrinthine adventure game

Before anyone gets excited, not based on the movie 'The Labyrinth', but on the Greek legendary maze. Characters start out trapped in the labyrinth, and have to survive and work together to find their way out, while avoiding the beast that stalks them. Once they find the exit, they unlock an overarching plot involving a conflict between the world's native people and their gods.

Would anyone be interested in a game like that, or are gods, especially Greek-inspired gods, too overdone? I've got the basic bare bones of a plot written out, but idk if it's actually a worthwhile idea or not.

The maze part gives everyone a lot of direction, which is refreshing. Gods are pretty commonplace, though, so I guess it'd depend on what kind of conflict. Please not another war.

The idea is still in the early stages of development, but the idea is more 'gods rebelling against having been rejected by the people' rather than the 'god and their faction vs other gods and their faction'. I have only played in a couple dwrp games, so I honestly don't know what all has been done/overdone. That is partially why I'm here. If folks wanted the maze and not the world beyond it, that's an option too.
