what languages?!

This is a problem I see in a lot of new game concepts, where characters don't actually have any reason to care about this random specific world they've been pulled to. Important questions like:

1) Why did this god need to pull people from other worlds instead of just using the people that live there already?

2) Why should any of the character be invested in protecting a world that has nothing to do with theirs and that they were basically kidnapped to protect?

I think making it an academy meant to defend all worlds, or some "central" area to the multiverse that is important to all worlds, would make a big difference. Otherwise everyone is just going to be wanting to go home all the time, with little motivation to excel.

fortunately we have a generator at home but comcast isn't working. i'm at work downtown where the high school is (that's where people without power are staying to keep warm and shower) and our internet barely works, phones don't work at all.

no significant damages at my home but a tree fell on power lines near my house.

sounds bad tho, there was a storm like this where i live about two years ago, we had no power or internet for two weeks. hope things get straightened out soon for u guys

does anyone know iconists that are keeping up with the series and may icon jughead's dad.

yeah, i know, but maybe there are anons who can use their phone data or left their homes to go someplace with power/internet/water. i know the high school in town has wi-fi but i'm sure it's either slow as fuck or they disabled it.

most of my in-state relatives either didn't lose power or have power back now. my city isn't as big so i don't know when we'll (my city) officially have power back.

it's four guys playing d&d. the characters are mostly consistent by now, but very off the cuff and extremely fourth wall. there's also something just uncomfortable to me about playing another person's rpg character, like borrowing someone's oc from anything else. it feels different from just canon characters.

It's pretty popular on plurk but I don't know anyone who plays from it.

kind of want to make a game vaguely similar to dragoncalled except instead of dragons/mythological creatures your character is partnered with a sentient mechanical animal of some sort

the setting would be a blend of technological and magical - soft sci-fi with fantasy trappings (i have a really specific sort of cultural setting in mind, where it's kind of medieval insofar as there's not a lot of industry or manufacturing but tech is still used in smaller ways to make life better, but i'm not sure if there's a concise term for this).

mechs start out small and fun-sized, anywhere between the size of a cat and a pony, and over time can grow bigger. they would learn and develop as PCs trained and bonded with them, growing both in skill and in size - strong bonds between PCs and their mechs would trigger "evolution" of a sort, with the mech growing improved armor or weaponry, features like thrusters or shield generators, enhanced sensor suites, etc.

have a very vague idea for the overarching plot and source of conflict that would keep the characters invested in the world, but thinking up plots and storylines has always been my weak point.

Let's try this again. Puns are highly appreciated, but honestly, anything goes as long as there aren't any underscores.

my game just gained a couple of adventure zone characters and while they're a delight to thread against, I'm still a little weirded out by the concept of rping someone else's rp character to begin with.

don't bother. you'll attract the usual neckbeard crowd that swarms to games like these, who in turn will run everyone else (read: normal people) out. i'm not trying to rain on your parade or anything but this is what always happens when someone attempts a mecha game.

Okay.

Figure it out before you dive into anything serious, because it actually does matter. Secret of Monkey Island Guybrush is new! His literal first line is, "I wanna be a pirate!" He's fresh-faced and full of energy, with a heart full of hope, a lack of general pirating demeanor, and a quick wit which is accompanied by quick reflexes.

Then by the time you get to Curse of Monkey Island a lot of that fresh-faced naivety was worn away and he's more cynical...not embittered, but slightly jaded. He knows what's going on. He's also more eccentric (see the porcelain thing) and quirkier in general.

This isn't to say that he's not quirky and snarky in the first game, nor is it to say that he doesn't have some fresh-faced innocence by the third game. It's just more that...well, time passes. And as time passes and Guybrush figures out the rules of the Caribbean, his reactions change appropriately. You know, first game Guybrush had no idea that LeChuck would be his nemesis so when confronted by having to defeat the dread pirate he's all, "I'm going to defeat LeChuck and save Elaine and we're going to live happily ever after! I got this!"

And then five games later, he's just going, "SIGHS." at LeChuck popping up once more. Because he knows how things work.

Thinking about it, he's pretty adaptable in general, but I imagine a later Guybrush would have a more difficult time adjusting to a jamjar because he had the narrative rules of the Caribbean pounded into his head, and so his mind would be blown by places which don't require you to collect the rubber chicken with a pully in the middle, a hatchet, and three marbles to unlock a door.

This is probably really silly but- I'm used to 'think' with a small voice in my head that tells me all the words and thoughts, what do you 'think' with?

This actually sounds really cool. I would want to play here.

laughing at this entire thread tbh. the number of people saying they're not part of a clique far outnumber the only voltron "group" there even is. yes, this fandom has problems, but cliquey behavior isn't one of them.
