I was deciding between the two games, saw eluvio die and thought I'd go to pines. now I don't want to join here, either.

I didn't like seeing all these jokes but its not the mods I feel bad for. the players had a game they liked that the mods decided to ruin, it sucks more for them than the mods who brought it on themselves.

as someone else pointed out; the biggest issue is that this new Light is apparently some weird outcast. Light, in the original, was the upstanding popular handsome guy that everyone thought remarkably well of. That was the whole point. He was a Japanese Patrick Bateman. This kid doesn't fit the bill at all.

That's how Void got his bad reputation as a mod. He treated his games like a tabletop GM would and it was awful.

I'm with the crowd who love the idea of Dafoe as Ryuk but am "...?!?" about everything else at best.

what are defense potions

what is food that gives you extra hearts (5x any "hearty" food gives you a full heal that adds 15-20 extra hearts)

what is parrying and backflipping/sidestepping attacks (both taught in a combat tutorial shrine as early as kakariko village, and successful parries don't drain shield durability)

what is upgrading armor

what are dungeon abilities that give you either a guaranteed three-use-until-recharge parry or a wide AOE charge attack that stuns anything it hits for like eight seconds

botw isn't even close to dark souls' difficulty, you're just not using most of the tools the game offers you

it can happen, but it's not something to hold your breath for, no. and i only say it's possible because it happened to me by chance.

i was hired into an electrician job, off the street with no college education, a job i only applied for because i was applying for almost everything in town, all because i'm small enough to fit into tight spaces few others in our shop can. not even shitting you. it's a stable career, good pay, work i ENJOY. and they trained me in everything i needed to know.

show: The River. it's a mockumentary horror series about a Steve Irwin-type nature guy who goes missing on the amazon river, so it cuts between footage from the old series, footage from his last expedition, and (mostly) footage from the rescue expedition consisting of his estranged son, his wife, and a bunch of the old show's crew. there's only 8 episodes i think, because it was canceled after one season, but aside from the one requisite zombie episode, they're all quite creepy and the acting is great

movie: demon seed. if the smart house from the movie Smart House was a guy computer instead of turanga leela and was really fixated on knocking up Julie Christie. the last line is bonkers. the whole thing is bonkers

clueless anon but who is trace and what happened?

For one thing, I haven't found that any of the buff food helps all that much, the defense buffs don't really help you get one shot less by the things that will oneshot you at 3 hearts.

Also I refuse to use hearty food because I treat that as an illegal gain of hearts (remember I generally only gain more hearts through dungeon containers when I play Zelda games, I avoid heart pieces/spirot orbs like the plague.) but I do use fairies if I can actually get some. :( they're so hard to catch to have a decent amount of fairy insurance.

I have upgraded my armor to the first upgrade level, but I have no clue where the other fairy fountains are and I doubt I'm supposed to find them yet because I haven't even beaten the dungeon near Zora's place yet.

I have tried 20 times to fight to lynel to get shock arrows so they'll actually let me do the dungeon and it always one-hits me. And exporing to find other shit that might help me hasn't gone well when even any random Moblin or Lizalfos can one hit me, especially if they have a bow or a 2-hander. And even with parrying and shti ti doesn't help when you have to fight multiple opponents, one of them WILL get a hit in unless you're constantly having your shield up, which you can't even do the second all your 1-handed weapons break, then you are absoloutely screwed when all you have left a 2-handers, which are lemons because not being able to use your shield=death, and if your last shield breaks you have to run the fuck away and hope you can find a new one soon.

So yeah, Dark Souls was actually more forgiving than this if only because enemies did less damage and 1-shots were generally reserved for mini-bosses and bosses and you had a source of i-frames to get you by those, not every single mook being able to do it. Even early on in dark souls a random undead in undead burg takes a few hits to kill you. in BoTW even with level 1 upgraded gear if you are only sitting on 3 hearts there are Lizalfos near Kakariko that can two-hit hit you, and the lizalfos near zora's domain one hit you just as easily as the Lynel does. even if they don't kill you in one hit, if they knocked you down near a hill you're probably dead from tumbling damage anyway.

Quite honestly, all I'm hearing is, "I'm voluntarily doing a Nuzlocke run of Pokemon and this is BULLSHIT because I'm barely catching anything this is bad game design what the fuck is this!" You do you, but if you want to do a run of Super Mario without using any of the power ups there, don't complain about dying a lot and blame it on shitty game design.

I had totally forgotten about The River until now, it's about time for a rewatch.

throw five of a +def food into a pot, you'll get food with a level 3 defense effect that'll drop damage by a lot

that's a self-imposed restriction, the game isn't designed around only picking up dungeon heart containers at all. use hearty foods, use the special options at inns, use your spirit orbs, you'll want at least a few extra heart containers beyond what you get from dungeons

you can find the other fairy fountains anytime if you go exploring, there's no restrictions on that and they're all near shrines/towers for easy access once you find them. at the point you're at upgrading your armor once should already help a lot combined with defense food/potions tho

you're not supposed to fight the lynel at that point. you can, but there's npcs that warn you about it for a reason. just sneak around its plateau while staying at a distance and pick up the shock arrows scattered around, you don't need to kill it to proceed. if that's still a problem you can explore until you find a town or merchant selling shock arrows to skip that part entirely

2h weapons can stunlock opponents and hit more than one enemy at once if they're close, don't forget charge attacks (most of them are AOEs) and bombs (can be used to bait enemies or slowly pick them off from a safe vantage point), arrows to the head from a distance are effective to wean down groups safely too

you could also buy the sneaking suit in kakariko, if you're wearing the full set you can practically run up to most enemies without them noticing you (don't try that with the lynel tho), if you sneak up behind an enemy you can sneak strike them for 4x damage

make more use of the options given to you and stop playing with self-imposed restrictions the game isn't balanced around if they aren't fun for you

trace is a mod (i think head mod) at the pines. she has a history of poor modding at other games. google "trace wankgate." not sure if she's shaped up and improved for pines, though.

you're full of crap. play the game for more than 10 hours and stop refusing to use all the things the game gives you to make it less hard. and try listening to the NPCs too, especially the ones that tell you not to fight the lynel and scavenge arrows from around him instead. are you even trying?

I really didn't need to read the rest of the comment past this to know you're a whiny entitled baby, but I did anyway and wow. Wow. Just because you're bad at video games and/or refuse to actually, you know, use the game mechanics to help you doesn't mean it's an inherently bad or even particularly difficult game. And this is coming from someone who's not the biggest fan of the weapon durability aspect.
