I'm not in the game, don't plan on joining, and I usually try to avoid getting CR with underage characters in general.

This is one of the worst mod decisions I've ever seen.

Can I ask why you avoid it? I'm just curious. I play young characters and older ones (35-55 year olds). I appreciate adult CR a lot obviously. But have nothing especially against younger CR. Did you have a bad experience?

I tend to play adults from fairly serious and realistic canons and am not a fan of magical superpowered adventures where witty teens kill people/things but make jokes so it's just fun snark.

If the teen/child is from a serious canon I give more of a chance but it's very rare to find a teen/child from a canon with murder in it that actually treats them seriously and, pardon the pun, doesn't handle them with kid gloves because they're underage.

Hmm yeah. I can see how that gets annoying.

Shoddy science education leading people to have no comprehension of statistics and sampling.

I worked support for a game company and every now and then I'd get a member of the press who would call or chat in asking for the PR contact email. It was one of those things we had on our list of contact info to provide to people as needed. It wasn't commonly asked for, but definitely asked for enough that it was on the list. From that, I'd definitely infer that they need to contact to be added.

You know, the way it went down with Eluvio was a shitshow, but it's made me realize I'd actually really like some sort of mission based game that is set up deliberately to be mostly adult characters from the beginning. So many adult characters I'd love to play actually having GROWNUP FRIENDS instead of having to mentor everyone because everyone they run into is a teenager. Not ending up in the awkward position of them needing emotional support and their CR being teenagers it wouldn't be appropriate to lean on!

either the mods are lying or they're stupid beyond belief.

well, almost 20 players dropped in less than a week so soon the mods will have no players in their little sandbox. i guess that's what happens when they threaten to close the game if they don't get their way!

i had adult and teen charas in asgard, and i agree.

no stake in the eluvio race, so sorry for an obnoxious flatviewer asking for information here. any of these canons you can recommend without outing yourself? my roster is skewing pretty young right now, and, while i love those characters a lot, i'd like to spread out the age range of my muselist some.

This would be really nice, because I play a couple middle-aged characters and it's a fucking bummer that they only have kids around to hang out with.

You know, with all the game copies we've had around, I'm wondering if there are any players who'd be willing to remake the game for everyone and mod competently.

The latter is fine with me, though I prefer the former (with some scenario ideas thrown in to show you're not passive deadweight) on smut memes. I try to lead with that too.

if this is something a mod team does from the beginning, i won't wank on them. their rules. if they want to make a game for blondes only, they can, as long as it's stated since the start.

i must say though, i'll never get this age problem everyone keeps complaining about. i add my +1 to suitability being preferable imo. my adult character would rather interact with a smart, strategic child soldier than a matsu or a moe, naive, stuttering 20 something. sure, the first month or so he'll find it weird, but after a while, young people in power is just another thing they get used to among all the weirdness of jamjars.

my favorite part is that this wank wouldn't have exploded nearly as much if they had just left out option c and said that an age cap was non negotiable. there would have still been wank and complaints, but not enough to kill the damn game.

rp is a collaborative hobby and this doesn't change when you're in charge. if anything, being willing to compromise and communicate becomes even more important. when you alienate a substantial portion of your playerbase the way they just did, you weaken their morale and your own authority.

it's one thing to never put your foot down and let your players walk all over you but this is not that kind of situation. this is putting out a product for public consumption, advertising it as having all of these neat features, and then retroactively adding fine print that renders it so it's not what you were led to believe you were getting at all.

i don't blame people for being up in arms about this. whether the mods did it deliberately or not, the result is that a lot of people got scammed into apping characters they can't play the way they'd been led to believe they'd have a chance to do.

there might not be any hard rule that says you have to do what other people want you to fix it but that doesn't mean it isn't foolish to deliver an ultimatum like this one to alienated players with the expectation they'll swallow it.

i mean, so would i, but also i can't say whether or not that may be the case if the mods end up getting tired and pittering out. not that i'm saying they are just it's a possibility

i don't think the game dying and bad end are mutually exclusive tbqh. technically.

not when you're trying to have fun and build cr and characterization and reach a goal in a game for, what? a year or so for some people? yikes. definitely a bad end.

i prefer b by a wide margin. if you're looking for input on a specific scenario or relationship you're interested in playing, that's cool, but please for the love of god don't ask me if your character who suits all my preferences for that meme is acceptable.

your character is fine with child soldiers. mine thinks they're horrifying, and just because a dozen worlds apparently pull this shit as a matter of course doesn't mean it's okay. both are perfectly valid ic mindsets, and it'd be nice to play in a game* where the latter's the prevailing opinion.

it's not like there wouldn't still be every single other game out there for people to get their child soldier on in.

*not eluvio, that was a shitshow, just some hypothetical adults only gen game.
